    For informations sake , you might check the history of the truck at a GM dealers to see if the IP has ever been changed & at what mileage . Wont prove anything but the info may help you decide in what direction to head first.

    With the engine noise these trucks make, cross over leaks can go unnoticed ( in my case at least) & affecting boost .

    Power Steering/brake question?

    Sitting still, if I have brake pedal depressed, power steering sometimes inoperative eg pulling out of a tight parking spot . Seems normal once truck is moving . I put it down to excess load on pump ?

    You would think it would at least fire with that much fuel having got to the cylinders Back to thinking about timing (injection).Key partially sheared? Presume rings are ok? Compression test ? You would think some of that fuel would have gone out the exhaust as white smoke . If injection timing...

    Maybe before & if contemplating changing PCM try connecting & disconnecting wiring harness to PCM ,as Gmctd used to say ,to "burnish" the connectors to get better conductivity. Also where wiring harness comes thru firewall reported to be a potential trouble area (broken wires I think). A...

    Has been talk on here that obdIs would be ok (default to a certain setting) but that obdII,s when a relearn was done ,after 50 starts or whatever may or or may not start.

    With optic sensor unplugged & no start, believe that could indicate a problem with crank position sensor ( note that youve changed it). If cps is ok it should start in limp mode but may need extended cranking time iirc. Wonder if no fire using starting fluid might indicate a timing problem?

    Ditto on Bisons story re setting the truck on fire .Went thru that gut wrenching experience when my son & I ( mostlly him) did the cross over on my truck.Sure is no flame retardent in that fire wall insulation . As he says , keep a pail of water handy or a garden hose.
