Tranny Build and Leaving Tune Installed...

I have had the same experience. I have also found the Allison DOC to work better than a Tech 2.

    Just changed my NSBU

A heat gun does wonders for this job.

    Just changed my NSBU

It cannot be done in 6 minutes unless it's a bare trans sitting on a bench. Believe what you will.

Tranny Build and Leaving Tune Installed...

Install the tune you plan on using most of the time when trans is built. Doesn't matter if it's tow or kill.

    Torque converter drain

Someone else put them there as GM did not. My shop was a GM warranty station for 15 years and I had intimate conversations with GM engineers about this very thing. When GM went to the solid converter instead of the split converter they also went to full mainline pressure in the converter, (...

    Allison deep pan

Rob Do a test next time you sell a deep Allison pan. barely stick the filter in the case and then see how the new deep pan fits. I bet it never touches the filter. It should bind and force the filter in the case. It won't.

    Another Transgo Jr. question...

Depends on where it gets displaced to. The filter is the B trim solenoid filter which is normaly open with fluid constanly flowing through it. Allison felt that some debris could get lodged in the solenoid and jam it. I saw that happen a week ago on a truck so Allison was correct in puting it there.

    Another Transgo Jr. question...

Watch out for the white tapered filter that sits in the upper half of the valve body. That is the half that only has 1 solenoid. The filter fits into a hole next to the solenoid.

Gear indicators not working? Not shifting right?

A heat gun should allways be used to remove the connectors. Make life a lot easier.

    Transgo jr.

The Transgo jr will help an '01-'05 by increasing pressure from 82psi to about 200psi, maybe a little more to the C3 clutches ( 3rd and 5th gear ) and c4 clutches ( 2nd gear ). Problem is there is not enough piston are in the C2 clutch piston ( 4th and 5th ) to clamp down enough. ( piston sq in...

    Trans coolers....

They are made differently and in their own seperate plants. I like the fins on the Setrab better but I doubt it makes much of a difference. When I bought the first 2 original Setrab coolers I had to buy them from Earl's ( Setrab WD ) because they would not sell to the public. In fact, Earls did...
