    HX40W-II + K47 Airbox??

For bending the tube, let me suggest an old old school trick. A common technique in shops that need to smooth bend small thin wall tube like brass instrument makers. Fill the tube with water, no air space, freeze it solid then quickly bend the tube with a bending jig/tool. The ice acts like that...

Would you recommend a gm turbo and spend the money for it? if so why or why not

I think the control scheme is great for mileage and response, instead of the plain pressure pot Dodge was using at the time, where you could open the waste gate under computer control for low back pressure cruise. Then snap it shut for spool up. But why for the life of me did they use that...

    Center mount turbo

TCI I think it is has a 6 speed based on the 4L80E now. Its rated for 3 times the HP a 6.5 would ever put through it. I have not seen a price but I bet its big $$$. Sweet though.

    702 Cu In V12 GMC

Caterpillar also used these in dozers back I think in the 60's when the buyer had to have a gas engine. Like in the great white north, or it had to run on LP gas. A few were also found on irrigation pumps natural gas powered. Its the same concept as the Detroit Diesels, to get a bigger engine...

Little green truck hit the rollers last weekend

Not to tough to un ass hat the video. You Tube has tools to put a new audio track over the commentary, if you dont have editing software to do it locally. Mark

these guys have big ones!! cahones that is

Do the china blocks really suck? Are they serviceable? They cast 10's of thousands of car truck tractor railroad and ship engines in china every year, they run their infrastructure with them, so why cant they make a decent 6.5 replacement? Several car mfgs have plants in Brazil. So they have...

    Timing All Messed Up

If the ECU does not compare the position of the pump to the position of the crank (TDC indication) how does it know any thing about where the injection events are occurring? Why have a crank sensor at all? :skep:

My trip, the lil 6.2 that could!

I'm near the cross of HWY 29 N/S and 460 E/W (Lynchburg VA) about a 40 min off 81 as well. Give me a heads up and I will give you direction details. But granted that is a bit off the path for a western trip. :) Maybe on the back swing?

    Timing All Messed Up

After reading this thread the EE in me comes out. I am thinking if I could take a oscilloscope and trigger off the crank sensor while looking at the IP OS and crank it over, measure the time, then do some math I could set the OS position like it should have been on the IP test stand. I realize...

Why not to use PVC for the shop

I few years back the Ground Round closed, a year or so later Texas Steakhouse opened in the same location, still open IIRC but I have not been there in years. We have so dang many restaurants around here these days. I have been told that new flexible gas pipe is actually capable of with...

Will this grill make my 98 Suburban look funny?

If you will get better head lights in the deal it might be worth it. I see a lot of Stall (sp?) tube grills around here in the GMT400's, kinda like the clean look.

How much school learning you got?

Out of HS I did a 80 hour AAS EE that was supposed to be an engineering apprentice sort of thing, that kept me employed for a good number of years. Later on in the VA community college system, I got a got a two year GenED Associates Degree the kind you do to transfer to a 4 year school. Now I am...

    250-6 to 6.2

That is going to be a cool set up. I want to do the same. I have a neighbor that has a 81 GMC 1/2 ton LB 2WD the upscale trim version, he bought new. It was a diesel originally, a Olds 350. When that died it got a Olds 307. He stopped driving it a few years ago when he got to the point where...

    Too Many Grounds?

I just noticed high output kits like this one for the CS130D, http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Output-Alternator-Kit-GM-Delco-CS130D-180-Amp-/230329755353 come with a smaller pulley likely to help with low idle out put which I hear is a problem especially with the CS130 (no D). So great and all...

    Poll Idea's

:agreed: I did it with multiple choice in mind. In fact separating out the Military service its self from tech schools in the military, and moving those to the trade/tech item would be a good edit. I don't know how many choices the polling mechanism allows. If you can do sub polls or two polls...

    Too Many Grounds?

Here is the source I was thinking of. http://alternatorparts.com/ They have repair kits and upgrade packages so you can keep your CS 130 frame and up it to a 140 as you repair it for the cost of that iffy rebuilder from Zonevanced Auto.

    Poll Idea's

:patriotic2: A some what serious poll to sample the demographic on here. How much school learning you got? >My high school diploma was pretty much a gift for showing up most of the time. >I made it out of High School OK but didn't go further. >I went to Vocational, Trade or Technical school and...

    Stuck torsion bar

After the oil and acetone bath I have found tap dancing on frozen slip joints with a air hammer to work well. Put a blunt ended tool in it and hammer away trying to evenly push the key off. The shocks of the hammering is supposed to break up the rust crystals.
