Code 78 even after replaced WG solenoid, twice.

Its a pulse width modulated drive. But, just for testing, You could put 12V on it with a connector pigtail... or you can also make the waste gate go shut by pulling the hoses off the valve and connecting the vacuum directly to the waste gate. I did this to make sure all the rest of the hose...

Code 78 even after replaced WG solenoid, twice.

I just fixed a no/low vacuum at the the waste gate problem. Those hard plastic lines to the waste gate had collapsed or was crushed at some time in the past. I did the usual checks at the pump at idle, then teed into the line at the waste gate and ran the hose inside the cab to the test gauge. A...

Front End alignment on a GMT400 (or any vehicle)

One caveat. With some cars/trucks its tough to find a line that is parallel to the vehicles center line. They don't have flat sided frames or any frame at all. But I got around that by measuring off ball joint zerks and the edges of brake backing plates and marking a line on the floor or just...

    6.5 timing chain replacement question

Man I wish someone made a "wet belt" cam drive for the 6.5 like they do for popular applications like the small chevy. Yes the belt runs right in the hot oil. http://www.compperformancegroupstores.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CC&Product_Code=5100&Category_Code=MagBelt Humm...

    6.5L fuel guage etc.

That looks like a force motor not a stepper. The ECU would PWM drive the current in a winding and create a magnetic field that was variable. This is opposed by another magnet either permanent or another coil. The opposing force positions the shaft. Seems they would be rather robust. In what...

Need a new Key FOB for the 1998 Suburban What do I need to do? Dealer?

Come to think of it the procedure to make it forget a lost fob would be just as useful. Maybe they only remember the last two?
