M1009 is a blazer. 1008 is the K30 truck, 1028 is a heavier duty truck with overload leafs in back and a limited slip in the dana 60 front. A few of the 1028 were duallys.
Well Im contemplating going and dragging home this old M54 6x6 chassis , going to pull the engine and leave it for the scrap guy there- its a continental 602 cu in gasser boat anchor and prob weighs 3000 lbs.
Oh and thats not a deuce and a half, its a 5 ton.
I think at that point it will...
Is the harmonic balancer, cover and sensor on the 96 engine? If so you can just ignore it as long as its there and not leaking oil around it or anything. the 93 setup doesnt need it.
I think its the same, if it was a 97 it would have larger oil line fittings for the cooler hoses but 93-96 should be the same. All your 93 stuff will bolt right on
This is a good chit chat thread so I will add this: Saw this on Houston CL and thought it was cool: (See we should have a chitchat thread in our 6.5 section :) )

1983 Olds Cutlass Supreme. 4.3L V-6 diesel. 71990 original miles...
Ya, CUCV 1.25 ton trucks are bad MOFOs. Will pull stuff and drive over the top of stuff - 4.56 gears in 4-Lo range :D and a Detroit locker.
The 94 half ton cant compete with that.
Ouch on your cant or dont want to wrench deal, gonna be hard to own and drive these old trucks without working on them yourself.
Unless you can find a good mechanic that wont stick it too you.
Northern auto parts has them for $95 . A Melling M255-294S for 97-2002 6.5. Make sure you weld the pickup tube to the housing. A couple of 3/8 in long mig welds will be sufficient...
Seems to me the tie rod ends last a long time, its the idler and pitman that go out quick. I bet with the parts from norcaltruck dot com that you would be good to go.
I dont think there is much benefit in getting away from the factory tie rod ends...
Well you could pull it , look it all over, ck the clearances and r/r whatever bearings needed, put in a new 97+ oil pump, make sure all the galley plugs etc are correct.
Or wait for it to blow up and it kills the crank and block and everything.
