    Good deal.

    bracket needed

The cast bracket is the reference for belt alignment. There are spacers on the plate bracket to make up the gaps. The spacers are about an 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. A couple washers between the plate and alternator should work fine. There is a 1/4 inch thick nut for the idler pulley to space...

    pmd relocation??

under the bumper or under the radiator, between the frame rails. are the preferred locations. I moved the manifold mounted style that was on my truck to under the bumper. You can splice the wiring in to extend the cable. IMO the extension cables are worth the expense, when your working on...

    Injector line coating

As it was explained in Fuel Systems training, The timing is impacted time build pressure in the system after the delivery valve opens before the injector pop pressure is reached. Because there is always entrapped air, making the fuel compressible. As it was explained in the class, don't F' up...

    Oil cooler lines

After just breaking and by passing my oil cooler I will report the following. I run Rotella T6, 5/40 synthetic. Normal idle oil pressure at full operating temp and 80F to 90F weather is 35 to 40 psi. 1800 rpm pressure is 60 to 65 psi. In 40F to 50F weather, after reaching operating...

    Injector line coating

The flaking that everyone talks about is of the microscopic size and internal to the line. It doesn't take much to jam an injector and cause problems. I don't remember the coating, but I remember Teflon. But I'm probably mistaken. New lines haven't been heat soaked for hundreds of hours...

    How long should injectors last?

2x on 100K life time. But the only true measure is to have them tested. You really don't want to wait until they are peeing or have a bad spray pattern. (can make for expensive repairs) The cost to test them is way cheaper than the alternative. If your unsure of how old they are, take the...

    help

Hard starts can definitively be GP related. Verify voltage and continuity of each GP. This will verify the GP, wiring, and controller. Fish bite is usually PMD, I had cold fish bite issues before replacing my PMD. Do you know the mileage on the injectors? Average life is 100K.

    help

The IP is pretty reliable. But many IP's get replaced due to the PMD going bad, GM's regular service guidance is to replace the entire pump. Most likely the PMD is failing. Look at a remote mounting kit and relocate the PMD. (there is plenty of text on why, do a couple searches to confirm)...

    What's this engine?

Now that's funny. I was checking around some more on that web site and found the "Stock" 6.5 block, when checked by application (98 K2500), was $500 more than the "Performance 6500". I have seen 3 different prices for 6.5 "long blocks" Stock Num: 65DIESEL-1 $58xx ( "Performance 6500") Part...

    What's this engine?

"Our High Performance 6500 Engine fits all 6.2 and 6.5 Diesel applications, including vans, " Interesting quote from the web page. That is a cheap price for a "NEW" and "improved" motor. Is it a GEP? The marketing makes you think it is. My understanding is that GEP block has a...

    Blue and orange wires???

They go to the rear of the truck for Brake controller and trailer power.

After 2 engines 1 overhaul and 1 truck: My oil cooler lines finally gave it up.

I really like the setup that Burning Oil has for sale. If you can go that route, I recommend getting the cooler too. The setup for the stock cooler uses npt -10AN 45 degree males into the cooler adapters. You have to get the angle of the fitting correct the first time. The replacement...

When Suppliers turn bad - a detour from hijacking 94DeiselSub's thread.

I would agree if the warranty on that specific engine was stated, in good faith, it should have been backed. Having my own dealings with said supplier, I can report a good experience. But I'm not expecting to push the motor to its limits either. If I had that expectation, and offered a...

    Finally Plugged In!

I plug in after it doesn't start during the first crank. That usually happens near 0F and its been off for 8 to 10 hours. Usually it only needs 10 to 15 minutes of cord time to get it warm enough to start. With the dual heaters, it should be ready to go in under 10.

    Air Dog 100

Looks nice. I read the literature, sounds solid and a good concept. They have an application for the 6.5, with 100gph @ a fixed 8 psi output. That would compliment the FTB upgrade nicely. For most +10 year old 6.2 / 6.5 trucks's, it probably over kill for the price (+$600). The cold...

    Oil Cooler Fail

Thanks, Leroy. It fits great. With the bracket, I can move the lines without movement transferring to the cooler itself. 1/8 x 1 x 6 bar, bent the edges to stiffen the bracket. Couple 6mm body bolts & clips, 3/4 clamp, clamps tightly. Used a 7/8 clamp on the left side, its stiffer and...

    Oil Cooler Fail

The new cooler arrived yesterday. Added a bracket and line clamps to reduce vibrations. We'll see how it works out.

    Oil Cooler Fail

The tracks aren't quite that bad. Also, not enough road to hit 85 either. :hihi: Although the old Toyota hit the grade crossing on Melville street at 45, making big air. (considerig the tracks are mid grill from the street)
