I never did get the nozzle out of the truck yet Chris. Now that it is warm out and I have a bunch of time here at home I could pop it out and take a look. I remember it was the middle sized one in the Snow kit, I think. Let me know if I should take a look, it is in a fairly easy spot to get at.
A little food for thought; darn near every sprint car engine that I have built, worked on, dynoed or even know of all have gear drives. Yes most have the more expensive type that has the idler built onto the timing cover in some way but I have seen plenty of guys on budgets use the dual idler units.
My truck was hitting 245f and defueling with less than 10# boost quite often.
I think we had a chart somewhere on here or the other site that showed the factory parameters for temp vs resistance on the IAT sensor. It should be an easy task to solder a radio shack resistor into the harness as...
I took two 6.5 cores apart this winter that had gear drives in them. One I know for sure had over 250,000 km on it and the other I am unsure of because the guy that owned the truck did not put it in, it must have been a previous owner. Both were in as new-condition, and it is not the only two I...
Ah crap. Your document will not open up for me. I was going to save it into my computer so I did not have to try and remember the voodoo dance you have to go through with to get the TDCO program to work.
Grainger might be a good place. I checked their website and the closest ones to you would probably be in St. Cloud and then in Plymouth. It appears that you can make an order online and then either have it shipped or do a will-call pickup yourself at the closest store. I use their US website...
Oil is cheap. You are not the only one limping a worn out diesel down the road. I have a 1991 Jetta with 615,000kms on it that uses a quart of oil every 500 miles. It is getting to the point that I can see black clouds one day, blue clouds the next...
The nozzle that you place into the intake is not going to create enough of a restriction that would make the WMI inject any substantial amount of coolant after the pump itself is shut off. I am pretty sure you will be fine with simply turning the pump on and off. If the intention of the nitrous...
I stuck one of the summit diode kits in a few years back that light all four headlights on high beam. I like it, cheap and easy mod. The DRL's in my truck self-terminated on their own a while back, not sure why.
I already did destrutive testing with a Snow WMI kit on my truck. I know the limits now and Chris has most of the info. It should be easy and safe for him to throw a kit together. I have a freind that built his own kit on a 350 drag truck, with two GM-8 snails pushing air. It works fine, and is...
I agree with bison. We often juggle the springs and shims alot with other parts from other sets to make sure the pop pressures are all very even. Back on the other site I remember one of the guys making his own tester out of a hydraulic jack for very few dollars. I would never put injectors...
I had one in a 1980 Silverado heavy half. I only ever had to do the injection pump on it once and the starter once. It was not used for a work truck too much which probably helped its longetivity alot. I bought it used and drove it for many years, sold it to a freind who drove it until the body...
There are spring pressure checking tools that allow testing while the spring is on the head. They are mostly used by racers but the tools can often be used or easily adapted to use on most other pushrod type engines. If you have a buddy that races or a machine shop that you are in very good...
