I'm running MBRP. I ran a Magnaflow on my 04.5 initially and left it alone for 3 years before the drone started to annoy me. I ended up switching to an MBRP muffler. The MBRP muffler was 8" longer than the Magnaflow so right off the bat, my drone was gone. So, when I traded in, not knowing...
1 hour of idle is roughly equivalent to 33 road driven miles. Just take that into account.
When I was living in the arctic climate of northern NY state, mine idled all the time. I did it with my 04.5 as well and never had a problem. Diesels are different animals though and I would think are...
I have a resonator on mine to help with the resonance. I started with a cat back because I dont like loud exhausts at all. After a while, I went with a full turbo back system. The resonators are mini mufflers that sit where the cat would sit on a stock system. I think it's very tame but has a...
Mine doesn't drone at all.
Barry, you have an LBZ and they're quiet from the factory. These things are really not loud to begin with.
I personally dont see how all these systems sound different. They're all a 4" tube with zero back pressure.
I would vote for MBRP.
I didn't actually tune mine until I hit 2500 miles. I did my first service and changed all the fluids and then tuned it right to the 85 tune and left it alone. The best I got was 23.1 at 70mph, all highway. This was with a cat back, modified air box, 85 tune and 285's. I don't bother calculating...
First, how are you liking that programmer?
These days, I'm really not sure on fuel additives. When I was living up in northern NY State, anti gelling fuel additive was essential because the truck would've never started. I used to run Stanadyne to keep it from gelling. Power services worked too...
Barry, look into 295's. They can often times be cheaper than 285's and land you an extra .6 or .7 inches in overall size. They look bad ass. They're not a very common size and tend to look good, stuffing in the wheel wells nicely.
I also have a functioning EGR. I never felt the need to disable it. I didn't want to have to buy the electronics to defeat it so I hear you there.
Other than an intake and 4" exhaust, my truck is no different from yours.
