It leaks very minor amounts. usually just ends up on the wheel wells. He just got it a couple months ago. We went to florida and back with it through the rain and had luggage and other stuff with the bed full and nothing was damaged. Like I said...it's pretty minor. He had an Avalanche before...
My dad has the extang tri-fold. Pretty nice but it can leak a small amount of water on the sides because it doesn't clamp the rail system down....it all folds up together. It's nice because you can have the whole thing completely off in under 5 minutes. It's just a couple wing nuts...
I've been told the factory uppers are $200 each. The cognito's are $460 a pair and they are re-angled for cranked t-bars. Here's more info..their website won't let me copy and paste - http://www.norcaltruck.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=2_384&products_id=239&osCsid=c242e141a587c2d5f6776438cbd6b594
The poll doesn't ask if you would buy another brand new GM. I would buy another GM ...but it would be '08 and older ('07 and older /pre- dpf diesel). I don't think I'd ever buy a brand new truck anyways, 1 year later it's worth about half of what the original owner paid. Worked well for me...
They are pretty straight forward and easy to do. It takes a little time but well worth it to do it yourself and save the cash. I did one side on mine last summer/fall. Now the other one is going bad..a little wiggle when jacked off the ground. :rolleyes5:
Same thing for the stupid tie-rods. My boot is ripped but I couldn't find a new one anywhere. You have to buy a whole new tie-rod which is $60+ from the dealer.
Yeah, true...the coil springs ride good.
He doesn't expect to have that ride back with this truck but I'd bet he'd like the ride a lot better with some Bilstiens and sulastic shackles. It's a little pricey of an upgrade though so it takes some convincing.
Pic isn't working for me. Does anyone know if you can just get new boots for the ball joints? I haven't checked to see if the joint is actually bad...probably just the boot at this point.
Yes, they are blue from the factory. My rubbers are junk on my truck. They all are weather cracked. One of my tie-rod boots has been blown for a while and one of my upper ball joint boots just blew. :rolleyes5:
Hey Steve, how have your MT/Rs been wearing? I had a set of those on my '96 lifted half ton and liked them a lot, but I would have only seen about 40k with them on that gutless halfton (35's and stock 3:73's with the 350). With the D-max I'll be getting at least 40k out of the MTZ's. I think...
I've heard a few stories about these.
1.I've read online they can't be replaced and you have to buy a whole new factory a-arm. If that were the case I'd opt for the Cognito UCA's instead.
2.I've read of people pressing new ones in and them falling out.
3.I've read that people have welded new...
