    Timing issues Help

Dies every time and when it did give a number before going back to zero, I am not sure if it was -2.02 or +2.02. Would disconnecting battery clear the ECM or does GMTDScan tech clear it enough?

    Timing issues Help

I have a Heath tune and Buddy figures 11 to 11.7 might be what Heath sets timing at. Timing chain was tight. We think timing was set by PO with bad CPS and now I have to move to drivers side before I can set timing. Set and learn both stall engine at present.

Timing and Marks Here are the timing marks, PO used a punch to add more reference marks. So Now I know he screw with it. Probably to compensate for a bad CPS

    Timing issues Help

I am not sure if that one reading I got was+2.02 or -2.02 and it is at 0 again so I am in the process of checking the actual timing marks on the pump. With the stalling when commanding Buddy thinks to far to passenger. I will get a picture of the marks and post them.

    Timing issues Help

History of my vehicle Always had hard to start when cold, would start run like crap for a few seconds and smoke like a SOB then something would change and instantly run smooth and clear up the smoke (blue smoke) Then would start like a champ after that as long as it had run for a bit. PO had...

    False "Low Coolant" lamp lit

It hasn't been high on my priority list to fix. I am hoping when I get to it that I can take the air filter housing out and unbolt the reservoir from fire wall and leave the cap on, lay it on its back and take the sensor out without having to drain the coolant. Clean it and put it back in and...

    Uh oh!!!

But if it got through that thick cover and did damage to the oil filter, what damage could have happened without it? Shrapnel every where, could of taken out a tire or two. It is there probably for that reason.

    False "Low Coolant" lamp lit

Sounds like a consensus, remove it and clean it. That should be fairly easy. I was running the GM tabs before doing the HG and yes because it sat dry for a couple of weeks, there maybe some crud impeding it's performance. Thank you all.

    False "Low Coolant" lamp lit

After completing the HG job the only bug is the @#&%*&^ low coolant lamp won't go out!:mad2: Is that the sensor in the overflow/pressure tank? The level is well above the actual sensor...if that is the one making the lamp stay on. If there is a trick to get it off, I am all ears!:hihi:

    Head gasket job under way

Mangled them a bit getting the heads (with exhaust manifolds still on) off. Did not see any compression ring leaks but the entire HG seemed soggy and tired. Sure glad that job is done, some of the guys here seem to like ripping engines out, injection pumps, HG jobs, but I didn't enjoy it, I...

    Head gasket job under way

Well I got Old Smoky running again tonight, had on small diesel leak from one of the injector return lines (mickey mouse clamp I think):mad2: Cut a bit off and reclamped and all looks good. My luck must be changing, it was probably the easiest injector to get at!:D

Agreed, he makes good quality products and when it comes to replacement the dealers price on the same parts would be a lot more for less quality. Maybe after I recover from this $800 plus job.

    Head gasket job under way

Yes the new one has the sensor and bracket as one, it seems as though they all come apart when removing them. Got the new rocker arm buttons in, rocker covers on and injector lines on and tight (what a beotch of a job) I'm sure if GM worked at it, they could have made it even more awkward to...

93 no start, loud clicking when cranking.

"The click or clank has kind of a metalic sound, it is steady when cranking but not as fast as the cranking rpm." Sounds like a crack flex plate. May have been cracked before but if it started quick then you may not have heard it.
