It is far easier to pull the crossover. Opens things up a bunch. But with patience, and perseverance, I bet you can get them off with it on. The crossover gaskets in mine were SHOT, so it may not hurt to remove it to check those.
On the timing, make sure to mark the IP, and the timing...
Been done. Was a brilliant fix, but I think my clutch is shot. I am working on a Heath replacement, but there again, it is alot of money. The other thing is that I need to replace my radiator, one is sitting in the garage, but time is also at a minimum. I think that will make a difference...
The restrictor is only for dual stat then? I guess my problem is, I don't have the coin to drop on a full upgrade. I am wondering how I can keep my truck cool taking my family on summer vacation , and not ruin a head, or block. Salvage yards won't sell just the crossover, unless the engine is...
What does the restriction do? Where does it go? I'm interested in learning, and I will do a writeup with pictures, but I would like to know how and what I'm doing. How come so little info on the subject? Especially if it has been an ongoing problem.
Well then, how does coolant flow through the engine block? Why is the drivers side not getting as much? is the coolant dead heading on the passenger side?
You can purchase the solenoid seperatly, NAPA part# ST181, $204. Reman starter $264, and new $284. If you have a NAPA in town, they may be cheaper. Those are online prices. If nothing else, check the salvage yard, and you may be able to pick up a cheap starter, or just the solenoid. I've...
I think that is a very good point, CD. I think with more volume, we may get more pressure. I guess I don't know what that will do, but I think balancing may be a better option.
I notice the single housing that I have is offset to the drivers side. Does anyone think that this is an issue?
Very interesting read, indeed! Well i guess that makes up my mind. I already purchased the '97 high flow water pump, and the gasket kit from NAPA, looks like the same fel-pro gasket set. Thanks for taking the time to find the link. I will try to take pictures and post them as I install.
The only reason I ask is because i got a friggin' awsome deal on some pre dilute diesel engine coolant. Can I use air, or some ramps under the back wheels, or both to drain the coolant, and/or the water after flush?
Allright, I have a question about thermostat crossovers. What are the flow differences between the single, and the double. Is it significant? Is it a life or death issue with our 6.5s? I am putting a radiator, and high flow pump on my pickup, but I was wondering about the crossover. Is it a...
