Bobbie - phone Bill and get the information straight from the horse's mouth. He will gladly talk to you about it!
No offense to the membership here, but in reality, the opinions you get here mean nothing unless they are coming from someone with some experience with the block filler.
I knew someone would see the sense of humour....have to have been around longer than the young'uns I suppose...
My stupidity was racing down gravel roads in my old Camaro....one wrong bump and it could have all been over I suppose...LOL!
If I were in your shoes, I would call Bill and ask him about the process. I know it is something he does in all of his rebuilds (performance and otherwise)....
Hmm....
It must be like stacks on a daily driver - some people think it's cool, the rest of us think the driver used to get to school on a short bus....
Seeing the other truck gives you an idea of what you can sell yours for if it turns out you don't like it....
You made the right choice....now get that EGR taken care of before it causes you grief...
Walt promoted the use of an override with the old WAP plugs....wiped mine out in a hell of a hurry...
After contacting WAP directly, found out that the override is a no-no and was purely bad advice from Walt...
If you don't need a tuner to do the delete, you are sitting even better....
You know you want it - buy it.
If you don't like it, sell it for KBB value and make some cash...
You are right about the EGR and headstud issues.
The EGR issues will plague a 6.0 even in stock form, and the head gaskets are more of a 'tuned' issue. If you are keeping it stock, you shouldn't have any problems.
At $13000, it is not a bad deal. Get it for $12 500 and pay someone else...
Want even cheaper oil?
Buy it in the 20 L pails at walmart in the automotive section - it will have a picture of a tractor on it - for farm use of course...LOL!
