Running again, no leaks this time

During my recent saga of puttering with my vintage 6.2 stash, had the opportunity to compare Victor Reinz packaged bolts and FelPro packaged bolts. Victor pkg. had 10.9 vs 11.9 on bolt head, feel on the quarter turn was such that pulled them out and shit canned the whole set. The FelPros had...

Running again, no leaks this time

After the epic fail of using 6.5 head gaskets on this 1st year 6.2, took my lumps installed correct +.010 Felpros w/yet another set of new head bolts. Hope I have the glow plug wires protected well enough, the vertical gage thing is to monitor blow by, reading were inconclusive. Crafted some...

    Oil pump drive

Be that as it may I offered 35 bucks, we will see. Maybe seller will deal a little. I got a NOS never installed harmonic balancer with triple shives last week for 100, seller listed for 125, took the offer.

Time to do h/g [which gaskets]

Thanks, make me happy and find me a couple of the short oil pump drives like the late model center turbo engines have, PLEASE. I LIKE the center mount due to my attraction to the 3208 Cat engine, but that's another saga. I have a couple of 6.2 blocks slated for conversion. I am well aware of...

    Oil pump drive

Hello. I'm not having any luck chasing down a couple of the drives for a center mount turbo application. Found a image on line that shows a couple part numbers: 2604-5801 and 86045801. Not doing well putting these numbers into the internet and would guess they might be too old for GM to give...

Time to do h/g [which gaskets]

Doing head gaskets and adding stock turbo to my 70k mile 6.2. Bought new Victor Reinz bolts off eBay and a set of Fel Pro bolts from Summit 55 bucks shipping in each, using Victor head gasket, little paranoid due to the turbo. Anyhow, went through the torque protocall with the bolts from...

    6.2/6.5 assembly tips

Bought a center mount turbo 6.5 engine off eBay, 2000 model year short school bus chassis, Jasper fondled reman?? I know that can't be good however it had the glow plug harness like the image posted. I like it.

    6.5 direct injected heads

I've puttered with a few 3208 projects. Use 3 ring pistons and roller cams, they run good, pop pressure is 1600 I believe, 17.1 compression, they are all direct injected, NA and turbos, lots of marine applications back in the day. Emission issues took them out same as the 2 stroke Detroits...

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

Believe me, I know about Jasper's rep. Have a few years in reman machine shop, know what to look at, won't be asking much of any GM diesels I putter with, after the good mileage and smoking the Prius drivers. I'm dreaming of screwing a center turbo w/mechanical pump into my 84 Seville 5.7 diesel.

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

How do you install the male compression for the engine oil feed line into the top of the turbo? Is t

1/4" pipe thread, use pipe sealant. Changing supply line to crimped hydraulic hose is good solution. I've gone there for engine oil/radiator heat exchanger routing.

    Scat cranks revisited

The only way to get a proper balance job is to tote the crank, flywheel, balancer, pistons, rods and one pair of rod bearing to the balance shop. Other wise you are depending on a generic bob weight that may not be the same as your application.

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

My shop installed the engine shown into a bus similar to vehicle above, front opens up pretty well, pull and put power train as a unit, front supported by fork truck, trans by a 2500# capacity trans jack dolly, rolls right out. Went from NA to a turbo, exhaust replacement and relocation, some...

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

This thread is full of fail now anyhow due to poor supplier performance. Am I a dildo trying to hack a 6.5 side turbo into my 82 6.2 manual trans GMC 4x4? I've already made the discovery that a spacer is required to move the curb side manifold off the head 1/4" to clear the nozzles and return...
