yes,i am going to do my grounds and do all new battery cables and ground wires too if needed.
just gotta do a search for that thread that showed the pics of where they are all at,lol.
hope it fixes the gauge issues cause electrical is my worst subject.so everyone please bare with me cause...
picked up a Champion reman 105A alt today at Part Source for $121.59 + tax and core with a 3 year warranty.
gonna install hopefully tomorrow and see if it fixes my tach reading.
next up will be questions about other electrical issues with dash and gauges.

Maybe it isn't even the batteries.It could be the starter is dying slowly,or your grounds are getting bad.There are quite a few threads on that part in this very section actually.As for the smoking issue,I'm kinda waiting for someone to chime in on that one too,lol.
welcome,i found it through google looking for a clutch.it's an awesome place to be for advice and help for anything you need or want to do i have found.
only bad part is that i work out in alberta,so setting it up will take more work then ya think,lol.i'll keep ya posted any time i get home though for sure.

sad part is that this truck is in INCREDIBLE shape for the year,now it sits in a snow bank drooling all over itself.

Well.....now that I got home lastnight,I find the truck buried in a snow bank.Not sure I will get at this project till spring now.I pretty much think I will just pull the tranny and have a reall good look at everything.I'm not scared of the work.Kinda like it actually,lol.I gotta heat the shop...
i too am getting more curious as this goes on,but am pretty sure i will find it being the seal.i got this truck from someone that owed me money and have no idea how many miles are on it (as in if speedo worked all it's life) or much else for that matter.just know it was sitting there idling...
