i need new rear fenders too, good thing i'm not at that point of my fix up yet and ordered something like that.
hopefully someone chimes in here with a good place to get them ;)
ok,while changing the steering box,i figured i better change the leaking oil cooler lines.
OF COURSE i bitched the cooler itself.:mad2:
i want to go with an after market cooler and the teflon and stainless braided lines.
does anyone know which brand is best and where the best deals are?
it's not that it's out of adjustment, something is loose that holds that bottom pitman arm shaft in place.
is there a bearing in there or something?
ferm's write up was just for adjusting it.
i can't remember exactly what they said but i think the shaft that the pitman arm hooks to is loose coming out the bottom of the box or something of the sort.
well....took the old girl in for her physical today, and she failed.
the stearing box is too loose they said.
so i ordered one from napa.
are their remans worth a damn or should i have looked around first???
cost me $250 plus $250 for core.
is that expensive?
yeah,i've been doing the riggin thing for 21 years now and it wasn't till i got this new 8 million dollar rig to run about 5 years ago that the guy that designed the haydraulics for it told me about the tape peices getting into the system.
was kind of an eye opener what he had to say about...
for hyadraulic stuff at my oil drilling rig we use the loc-tite thread dope because the tape has a habit of going through the pumps, clogging the filters and plugging small orifices if it gets into the system.the thread goop disolves into the oil and doesn't seem to harm anything.
just thought...
ok,the new cluster works nice.
tach works, speedo seems good but will check against my other truck.
STILL have a temp gauge that is doing what it wants.
is there some way of testing the sending unit and see if it is faulty?
i'm pretty sure the 6.2 flywheel will work on the 6.5 and vise versa.
i just went through this.
i have a flywheel from a '82 6.2 and when i changed everything on my 6.5 i checked it all out and it looks like they all would work on either engine.
the Luk numbers on the clutch and...
jebus i hate electrical.
well...i hope this other cluster works for me.
should i be looking for any other parts for this at the wrecker? ie:sensors, wire harnesses, etc. ?
well..according to everyone the pulley size on the alternator is different on a gas.that's why i'm thinking something might be reading wrong somewhere.
i sure hope this different cluster fixes my problem.
oh yeah, the temp gauge was all buggered up too,any ideas on that one??lol
so actually i should be fine then because it is all done before the speedo.
it just tells the speedo what to say???
what about the tach???if the panel is from a gasser, would that be why it is out to lunch??
new development.....i think the instrument panel is out of a gasser.
the guy who had it before me must have changed the damn thing to this one.
i'm GUESSING this is probably my tach issue?????
i found one at a wrecker for a diesel and will stick it in hopefully tomorrow.
my next...
the reason i am wondering is because i want to run a ground wire right from the battery to that point.
then if the problem still exists,i can look for something different.
well...the new alt. didn't do a damn thing for the tach.
am at a loss again.
didn't quite get all the grounds done cause a buddy stopped by and whiskey got involved.
would a bad ground make the tach all goofy???
