Why GMTDScan is a must for 94-95 owners.

After I did the vacuum pump delete, I got the ol' SES light every time I passed someone or pulled a long hill. I bought the stuff to do the boost fooler mod, but before I got around to doing that, I ordered a GL4 chip from Bill Heath. After I installed my chip, the light never came on again...

Winner of the Fuel Pressure Tap POLL FORMAT!!

I ordered mine the first day of the poll. Got here two days later. That's QUICK service! Nifty little sucker - I'll install it with some other mods in a couple of weeks.

    Aces went dodge?!!?!??!?!?

Hey Doc - the next time you're in a bind, call me! I live just up the road, near Tyler. I've got access to a trailer and a couple of come-alongs. Also some hand tools. A chainsaw. Cold beer. Dave Overton, TX

    Rant time..Deraile Transmission Pan junk

Did that once. Doesn't end well. Can't recommend it. ):h

    Rant time..Deraile Transmission Pan junk

Tim - Seems like some months ago, you were describing your pan/diff cover setup to another lister. Can't remember if it was here or over at The Place. At that time, I looked at both the MHT and the PML pans. Mag builds a beautiful pan, but they're mighty proud of it - over $300. My...

    Rant time..Deraile Transmission Pan junk

Kenny - Thanks for the 'heads up'! I was considering Derale as one of my choices for an extra-capacity pan. The other choice was a heavy cast aluminum pan with external fins. The Derale was less than half the cost, so it's been mighty attractive. And I figured "Stamped steel? So what? My...

    235/85's and 3.73 diff

Yup, Overton is South of Longview and about 30 miles east of Tyler (where I work). Thanks for the input and the offer. Actually, you're sorta on the way if I take the 'eastern route' (271) to OKC. Easy to drop by and say hi. I'd really like to see what you've done to your trucks - good ideas...

    GLE in, what changed?????

As mentioned in my earlier post, I saw the same improvements, plus better mpg and better transmission control. I see it as a 'work in progress'. By adding this chip, I've built the electronic base for future mechanical improvements: injectors, turbo, FTB, cold air intake, transmission, etc...

    235/85's and 3.73 diff

Thanks for the input! Mostly, I use the truck as a daily driver. My commute is approximately 30 miles each way. The first 25 are farm-to-market roads - 65mph, no stops. The last 5 miles is driving thru Tyler (stop & go) to get to our campus on the other side of town. Once every month, I...

    GLE in, what changed?????

Wow! 19mpg with a stock turbo. That's great! What Garrett did you use? How did you plumb it up?

    235/85's and 3.73 diff

So you're running the 235's and 3.73 gears? What kind of mileage are you currently getting? How about rpm's at 60? At 65? It seems like 1950 - 2000 rpm would be perfect for the 6.5 torque curve, but I'd kinda like to know for sure before I go to all the effort. Hate to spend all the time...

    235/85's and 3.73 diff

Since getting my truck running a year ago, I've slowly added/performed the mods in my sig. One of the first (unintentional) changes was installing a set of 238/85R16 tires. The originals were dry-rotted from sitting for over 4 years, and I happened to have a set of almost unused tires from a...

    GLE in, what changed?????

I've had my GL4 installed for about a month now. My truck's an OBDI setup and with the original vacuum boost controller it usually ran around 4psi, with spikes to 7psi when accelerating hard. After installing the GL chip, the first things I noticed were: faster shifting into high gear...

Re-Calibrating VSSB due to tire upsize

The 'flat spot' thing had me stumped, too. I wasn't sure where to measure on the tire to make up for that. I mean, did the flat spot cause the other parts of the tire to bulge a bit? Would rpm cause the tire to 'grow' like a dragster tire does? Finally just decided to go with the chalk mark...

Re-Calibrating VSSB due to tire upsize

When I replaced my dash last summer, the white box wound up lying under the glove box ledge. Now it's really simple to reach - just remove four screws and pull the glove box. My soldering job wasn't great - couldn't find my pencil tip iron and got impatient to finish it. Next time around...

Re-Calibrating VSSB due to tire upsize

Soldering from behind is definitely easier to do. Also makes a cleaner joint, with less chance of shorting across an adjacent contact. I bought my 7 pin dippies from an electrical supply store. You can also find them online. I was in a hurry and didn't feel like waiting, so I started...
