Any of our trucks that use ECM's (built after 94) have this option. It's just not hard-wired in. The instructions above tell you how to install the wiring part...
Right - 4.3L V6. It was the little brother to the 5.7L motor. GM used them in some of their front wheel drive cars like the Cutlass Cierra. From what I remember, it was a pretty good motor. Not exactly a powerhouse, but great fuel mileage and a better reliability record than its big brother.
You got it. Little 2.2/2.4 Isuzu NA motor. Same setup as in the LUV pickup. There's a seriously nice (and seriously expensive) example on eBay right now. Go to eBay Motors and look up item #170428983481. Very sweet!
X2 Matt. Mine came from LMC. Same deal. I pulled off the sock, since I'm relying on my filters to catch the crud and it's easier to replace a filter than to replace a fuel sock. ):h
I've purchased two Racor units from them. My most recent purchase, a Racor FF500MP came from...
Man, that's BEAUTIFUL! He mentions at the bottom that he'll set up a private auction for $4K or 'some reasonable offer'. $3500 for a brand new, virgin motor sounds mighty reasonable to me! Wow, what a hoot that would be! ):h ):h
I know there's a lot to be said for seasoned...
I picked up the entire unit from Tractor Supply for around $35. You can get them for either 3/4" or 1" fittings. You also have a choice of either spin-on or removable cartridge with clear plastic sediment bowl.
Yup. That's why my suggestion to dump the guts in a bucket of fuel and see what...
My sending unit also came with the gas-style sock installed. Kinda surprising, since I specifically ordered the diesel version. As far as protecting your lift pump, 20 micron will do the job. The filter element won't separate out water, since it doesn't have the water coalescing coating...
):h ):h Ah geez, my humor fix for the new year!
Ya know, I was told years ago by a Dana rep that the best way to bleed a power steering system was to start the engine, let it idle for a few seconds and then turn it off. Do this several times, THEN do the lock-to-lock thing until the...
Temporary fix: disconnect the temp sensor wire from the sending unit on your thermostat crossover. This will give the computer a max resistance reading, which the computer interprets as REALLY COLD. Your WTS light should stay on for approx 8 - 10 seconds. Once started, reconnect the wire to...
Yup, it'll run. There's 18 teeth on the crank sprocket. Each one is worth 10 degrees at the cam/injection pump. So you'd be throwing base timing off by 10 degrees, either advanced or retarded. It'd run like crap, but it'd run. From your description it sounds like the timing is pretty close...
Maybe. Maybe not. I just paid $280 to a local dealership to have their ace electronics wizard troubleshoot a Check Engine light on my wife's car. Was told we needed a new ECM. Decided to get a second opinion. Turned out it was a bad camshaft position sensor. Installed that and updated the...
OK, goofy question: Did you get the right timing gear/chain set for your year model? The electronic motors use a different crank sprocket. It has 4 'ears' that swing past a sensor and tell the computer what piston is at TDC. A timing set for a 93 and earlier non-electronic motor won't have...
Yup. More than once. Use a grabber tool or a magnet to get the plug back up towards the hole. Reach in with a pair of channel lock pliers and grab the raised edge. Use the edge of the freeze plug hole as a lever point and rock the channel locks backwards. This will exert enuff force to pull...
Nice install! The bed is off my truck right now, so now would be a good time to do bracket work on a crossmember. I also like SD's idea of a shield to protect the filter from road debris. Hmmmm.... Projects for Thanksgiving! :D
Right. The filters for each series are interchangeable, both for size (45/60/90) and for micron rating (R/S/T). Right now on eBay, there's an older style 500-series with an integral heater. Pretty reasonable. I also saw a Racor add-on heater kit . Kinda pricey; cheaper to buy the entire...
:iagree: That's kinda where I am. I have a Stanadyne shop not far from my house that's done my pumps and injectors for almost 20 years now. Started with veedub Rabbits, then on to 6.9L Fords and now a 6.5L Chevy. Their work is outstanding for injectors and pumps, they're ready to give all...
