Yup. I'll be home Monday nite, so I'll get to work on that this week! I want to figure out a way to stack the pics on top of each other - sort of a Before & After thing.
Here's the wish list for the next few months:
DMax fan and fan clutch mod
K47 airbox
Power Trax locker and 3.73 gears
That'll keep me going for the rest of the year. Over Christmas Break, I want to start working on a replacement 4L80E.
We're up at Mom's house right now. I drove the truck and headed out around lunchtime Friday. Marty and Katie took the Taurus and left about three hours later. I'll be heading back Monday morning, so I'll get a chance to clean it up and get a few more pics this coming week. It really is a...
That's where the name came from! Sort of a play on words - deuce for dually. :D
We used the M2 for door guns on Ch-46's and CH-53's. That was long ago and far away... ):h
Funny you mention that....
There's a military surplus depot located in Hooks, TX. (That's about 2 hrs east of Dallas on I-30.) During the last part of February, there was a 6.5 motor in the metal shipping container that was being auctioned off on the government liquidation site. Condition...
That's mighty reassuring to hear. I wasn't real sure what to expect. Having seen the finished product, I can tell you it looks better than I anticipated. Really glad to hear that it'll work as good as it looks!
I stopped by yesterday afternoon to drop off the fresh batteries and a few other odds n ends. The guys had shot the Rhino Liner and were buffing on the finish. Wow! Does it look SERIOUSLY cool! I was never any good at looking at a color chip and trying to visualize an entire vehicle painted...
I was looking at the pictures and just realized - I'll get it back just in time to get it tagged and inspected! ):h
The right front fender has been compounded and polished. It was used as a training example of how to finish the job. One of the guys in the class told me that the fenders...
OK Rob, here ya go! The fenders are bolted back on the bed.
Later Friday, they shot the cab. Monday morning, they remounted the bed, front bumper (and PMD) and bolted on the new grill. I stopped by Monday afternoon on my way back from OKC. See for yourself:
Oh yeah, I sorta...
Outstanding job, Ferm!
I've been twisting wrenches and building engines (big and small) for over three decades. Your comments are spot-on.
Actually, I pay the extra $$$ to get my stuff balanced within 4 grams. Typical cost is around $225 here in the Tyler...
Friday morning I'm headed to OKC to check on my dad. I'm gonna stop in and take some pix of the progress so far. I talked with Randy today and he said they spent yesterday dealing with over a dozen hail dings on the hood. I didn't even know I had any hail damage!!
This morning, they...
Actually, Matt, I'm not that noble. Ya see, the original estimate was Christmas! :D Of course, I also expected an 'OK' job suitable for a work truck. You know, a small run here and there, splotchy paint, some visible body work. Instead, the body work has been meticulous and the shooting...
Matt -
WOW! $37 in fees for two parts?!? Thanks for the 'behind the scenes' look at how GMPD does business.
And Matt & Aces - Thanks for clearing up the misconceptions about using a DuraMax composite fan. Very cool addition to the knowledge base!
Oh c'mon Len, don't crap out on me now! ):h ):h
Yeah, checking at the FSU might save some $$$. It won't necessarily identify a dead spot in the resistor, but it will give you a good hint as to FSU accuracy/condition.
Interesting thought... Don't see why it wouldn't work. Sorta reminds...
Hey, one other thought - Before you pull the bed/tank/FSU, check your harness one last time to be sure it's not a wiring problem. It may seem like a hassle, but I gotta tell ya Len, spending the time/energy/$$$ to replace the FSU only to find out that's NOT the problem is gonna be a serious...
