Should whistle pretty good. I don't see why not. Didn't make much of a difference for me but you could remove the silencer ring. Mine whistled like no tomorrow with and without though. Also, I wasn't running a muffler. The whistle was pretty audible at the tail pipe while idleing too.
I think his turbo is different. It's the style that mounts to the braket that is molded to the compressor housing. The holes on your turbo that are used for the waste gate are most likely not on his turbo.
I'll have to see if I can find the thread with the custom waste gate actuator braket and...
Good news. Now to make it better, throw a 3 bar map sensor on the manifold in place of the stock 2 bar map. Your defueling will be gone and no more limp mode. Check around the site for a waste gate actuator braket. Not long ago another member put on an hx35 like yours and had to make a custom...
The larger turbine housings work well with the lower gearing and the smaller turbine housings work well with taller gearing.
I was running the hx40wII, which means it was the 14cm housing. I had 4.10 gears, dam that thing spooled fast.
That's odd there's no whistle, I had the hx40wII and that thing whistled like no tomorrow with and withouth the silenser ring. You could clearly hear at the tail pipe while motor idles
Use that IP money for upgraded lines, you won't regret it. Those upgraded fuel mods won't mean anything if one of those lines blow while driving down the road.
Sorry to sound like a broken record but these stupid lines have killed many 6.5s
For the sake of yout beautiful 6.5 please don't use oem style replacements. They are known to fail even when new, the clips that hold them in are a joke.
Just found this build thread Tanner. Sounds like your on the right track and have a great start.
By the way, did you answer my last pm about your address?
Good luck with the project, can't wait to hear more.
Yes please do post pics. If you sai it's marked from Great Britain, it's possible that it's a true holset as they are out of England last I heard.
18cm is a bit in the big side. If you have low gears that will help spool it up. A custom will be a must.
