I had the same problem, temp would be reading fine then it would jump up then down again. I pulled my gauge cluster and cleaned the terminals on the cluster and the dash with electrical cleaner on a Q-tip. I haven't had the problem since.

I just received my diamond eye exhaust today. Had the old one out and the new one in in about 2 1/2 hrs. Everything fit VERY well. Down pipe has plenty of clearance, the intermediate pipe that goes over the tranny crossmember has about 3/4 in. on the top and bottom. Only mod I had to do...
I removed my inner fender to reach the turbo bolts and for better access to everything. Removing the inner fender is real easy and worth the little bit of extra time to do, plus I will be able to scrub it up and make it look nice. My turbo nuts came off easy also, I soaked them with wd-40 and...
I just received my injectors from accurate diesel today. (I just got them from the mail box because I work out of town). I installed the drivers side and it was easy as pie. The injectors are nice. They are cleaned very well, and the threads are in good enough shape for me to have been able...
Well, I think I am going to finally order a new set of injectors for my truck. Looking on ebay, I found a set for $245.00 from az-diesel-injection-services in Arizona. Has anyone had any experience with them at all? Says he uses bosch bodies and nozzles, and it comes with an installation...
My truck has been running good since AKDD helped me adjust my timing. It has set no codes as of yet, and hopefully won't. I have not been able to see if it starts better at cold temps as of yet because it has been so warm here lately (low 30's to low 40's). The hard 'cold starts' are the...
How can you identify a j-code block? I am going to check out a 6.2 from a 1991 truck for a back up for my 6.5. Is this a good year block? Thanks.

I have a gasser 1997 and it has the round style airbox on it. Only difference I can tell is on a gasser, the outlet is toward the firewall. How can this box be modified to exit toward the front?

I was having similar issues with my oil pressure and temp gauges. Oil pressure would show 60-70 psi and suddenly show 20-30. Temp gauge would also show that I was running hot, then show normal. I removed the gauge cluster and used some 1500 grit sandpaper to LIGHTLY clean the terminals in the...
It has been between -10 and -20 the last week here in AK. My truck would NOT start in that crap. I installed new batteries and a new starter. It cranks over way better now, but is still a bitch when cold. Could my tdco be off enough to cause the hard starts? All glows were replaced with 60g...
Thanks for the info. I installed a tank heater on my 1985 350 chev and used the block drain for the inlet to the heater. Thing heated up and started in the coldest temps. I will istall this one as suggested as this is the only viable option. Thanks.
Steve
I would like to install a circulating tank heater on my truck. Is there an accessable block drain to hook it up to and where is it located. Thanks.

Try soaking the nuts with pb blaster or aerokroil for a day or so. After soaking, start the motor and let the manifolds heat up a bit, may help to loosen the nuts. When you put it back together, use anti-sieze on the bolts to help remove them next time. Also use anti-sieze on your glow...
Glow plugs 4 and 6 have a tubular heat shield that protects them from manifold heat. They are held on by nuts that thread onto the manifold bolts. Use needle nose pliers to pull the connectors off then unbolt the shields (2 nuts each). After replacing glows, I added about 6 inches of wire so...
