New to site 425 Hp from a 6.5

I only have ever seen the "updated and improved" engines on Ebay (or anywhere else) I talked with all of them before and they have absolutely ZERO proof of how their blocks or engines are improved. They didn't even know what the P400 engine was

New to site 425 Hp from a 6.5

The P400's all have forged crankshafts, stronger connecting rods with a different design, and pistons are cast and are designed to clear the new one piece main cap. The oil pan will not fit in a pickup truck chassis, it has to be cut and modified to fit. You can only order the complete engine...

    porting precups

I wish I had an exact temperature, it should be around 2500°F though. They seem to crack not because of combustion pressures behind the precup, but rather because of the middle part of the cup heating up significantly faster than the outer part. When it cools, the inner part contracts more and...

    pre cups

Typical Incolel© alloys used in automotive applications aren't magnetic. But yeah, you are going to have to find a real machine shop, not just one that works on engines. The dealership does have the precups, but they are expensive.

    pre cups

They won't machine them? Yes Inconel© which I believe they are made of is pretty hard, but they should definitely be able to machine it. I can run my titanium carbide cutter through one, and if that cuts it out good, then the machine shop doesn't have the right tools.

    porting precups

I learned the diamond precups have a rather high melting temperature, also learned how to crack them :D

    A-Team Turbo

I've had good luck with Fel-Pro head gaskets, and their gaskets in general are high quality. Yes, I believe Heath's PMD relocation lit comes with a new PMD and an extension harness. You can use the PMD that is on your injection pump right now, and remote mount another companies heat sink to...

2" rear wheel spacers installed on a K2500 Sub.

I never noticed how far in the rear wheels stuck in on the Suburban's... worse than my trucks. It'll help the air flow smoother around your truck as well. If you want the highest quality wheel spacers you can get, I have heard numerous great things about Fred's spacers. He makes them any way...

Random question and ,BTW, I hate you bastards!

I guess I should have defined a ton, sorry. From the bottom of the intake mounting flange to the bottom of the hood brace is 10" (measured at front of cylinder head) and the same measurement, taken near the back of the cylinder head is 14" and at the very back you have 11". I don't understand...

Random question and ,BTW, I hate you bastards!

There is a ton of hood clearance on our trucks, and IIRC there will also be a ton of firewall clearance. The turbochargers on the van don't sit exactly where you'd expect them to, they are pretty far forward. The only interference I see is not being able to use the stock downpipe from the van setup.

    Sequential turbos... do-able?

I don't think that's what he's saying exactly. It seems as though running sequential turbos would have much less pumping losses. It not a matter of simply supplying enough air to the engine, but doing it as efficient as possible at the same time. That way you can make more power from the same...

    Splayed Mains......

No, it is being cut out of a solid piece of steel, AKA billet. You guys are correct also, line boring and honing is mandatory.

    Sequential turbos... do-able?

All I was saying is that two turbos are more capable than one turbocharger. My project is at a near stand still until I get back to work.

    Sequential turbos... do-able?

Making boost across the RPM range isn't the only thing to consider though. With my limited knowledge of turbos, I know that you want to operate a turbocharger as close to it's highest efficiency point as possible. With two turbochargers (or two VGT) you can in fact get near peak efficiency...

    Splayed Mains......

I stopped back at the machine shop earlier this week to talk to the guy, and he has been off work since I last saw him and now has a big cage around his leg with pins sticking through his leg to hold it together  I didn't ask him what happened yet, but it looked pretty bad and he was having...

What would you still consider a 6.5?

I never had a thread actually, a bunch of us discussed it in the lounge over the past week or so though. It helps a lot talking to the Duramax guys that pull and race.

What would you still consider a 6.5?

I was thinking about doing a poll, but the majority seems to not like a DI conversion (I asked over at DP too). IDI or DI my power goals are the same, the DI just would have cost less to do, while making the same power. Keeping it IDI is going to call for a couple types of tests, of which I will...
