New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Thanks. We really enjoy it. Instead of taking a big vacation every year, we try to camp as many weekends as possible. The ol' Sub handles this trailer with no sweat, but I sure miss the pickup when it comes to hauling coolers and firewood.

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Got the camper out again last week. This trip was to Sycamore Springs Park in English, IN. It is a private park; but the admission, RV camping and firewood are all free. Yes, free. They have 20 RV sites with electric hookups, water nearby. Plenty of open space, excellent showerhouse. No...

Why you NEED an GOOD temp gauge

I use a ScanGaugeII to monitor my coolant temps, and what the PCM reports is typically higher than the stock gauge.

How Many Miles on Your 6.5?

221k, replaced injectors at 217k. Balancer & crank pulley coming soon, starting to get a vibration just off idle.

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

The TT sold in one day on craigslist, so I found this one to replace it. 2004 Aerolite Cub 236 hybrid. Two popout beds and couch slide. Kids love it, wife loves the slideout.

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Yeah, I'm not terribly concerned with the fuel economy, just trying to ease the load on the truck. Loaded for the weekend the TT weighs (estimated) 6300lbs. I'm grabbing my number from the Coachmen spec sheet dry weight plus guessing on gear. The hybrids we will be looking at max out GVWR @...

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Starve Hollow State Rec Area, Brownstown, IN. Lakefront site #31. On a side note, we have decided to sell this TT in favor of a hybrid TT with pop-out bunkends. This TT was fine with my pickup, but the Sub is geared higher and overall more worn out so it struggles towing, especially...

Looking for input on foglight/drl locations

Little late since you already mounted yours, but you can kind of see my Hella 500s mounted low in front of the air dam on my Sub. I can get a straight on shot later if anyone wants it.

1995 Suburban radio and speaker options?

Kind of a late addition to this post, but L98TPI is correct in that GM used a goofy 1.5 DIN radio along with Chrysler. There are very few head units that fill the entire space. In my 96 I used a Pioneer unit, since I prefer the stockish look. Pioneer has discontinued these head units, so look...

    Suburban Dual Air Upgrades

I bought the fan for my Sub with the same intentions to wire it into the A/C clutch and also to a toggle switch so I can force it on when towing heavy if necessary. I plan to relocate the trans cooler to underneath the truck and eliminate the radiator trans cooler.

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Since the forecast called for temps in the 70s and sunny skies, and my son's birthday was the 2nd, we decided to get the camper out for the weekend. Rolled out Saturday morning and came home this afternoon (Monday). Beautiful weather, and as a bonus the CG was deserted Sunday after 2ish when...

    1995 Salem Cobra

Looks nice! I replaced my rear lights with LEDs and just screwed the plate directly to the body. It's not illuminated, but I haven't been hassled for it yet. Last fall I cleaned 5lbs of old mud dauber nests from our furnace. Same symptoms, fan but no heat. I removed it from the trailer...

New toy for the 6.5 to pull around...

Prepping the truck and trailer for spring! Got my Dodge mirrors installed yesterday. They're not perfect, but works for me. I wish they were power, but can't complain for what I paid for them. Cleaned out the trailer, the wife had turned into a storage shed over...

    Copper headgasket

Buddy of mine used Fel-Pro gaskets and coated them with copper gasket spray. No issues so far.

    The "restification" of a 98 6.5 TD...

I've always liked the TJM/ARB style bumpers. I'm a bit biased, my 01 Cherokee and my 96 Grand Cherokee both have ARBs and my Sub has a brushguard. I have been into the offroad look/lifestyle since I was a kid though...

    Smartphone OBDII scanner

I would be interested in this as well, my ScanGaugeII has the capability to input different PIDs to read different values. Trans temp is supposedly supported, but the PID I input gives a reading that seems to be in Celsius even though the manual claims it is read in Fahrenheit.

Suburban rear defrost only works on P/S door?

Quick update - tonight we had some rain and the temp dropped while I was at work. Turned the rear defrost on and both windows seemed to clear. The fog wasn't that heavy so I couldn't tell 100% but I believe the fix worked.

Suburban rear defrost only works on P/S door?

I did that today, scratched them down to shiny on both pins and contact pads. I also covered the pads/pins in dielectric grease to prevent further corrosion. I'll have to wait for a cold night again to see if it worked.
