I have a Helm manual for it, and according to that, it's the pump. It just doesn't make sense though. How the one pump can go from running to not running just by taking it off and putting it back on.
Problem started back in January. Was driving along, made a turn, then once accelerating again, had a small loss of power and slight black smoke. Progressivly got worse and started making noises. New fuel filter, tried new fuel, new turbo, plenty of vacuum at wastegate. At time of last run...
GM-4 and up use vacuume wastegate. Put a turbomaster on any and they'll most all interchange with your 92. This may be different for oddball ones though, but I know 3, 4, 5, and 8 with a mechanical wastegate should work.
I'd like to at least see our general truck stuff seperated from the Duramax truck stuff like the Electrical, Exterior, Interior... If we vote to keep one section with classifieds, then maybe have this be more of a 6.5 and vehicle forum than just 6.5?
I would like to see some kind of subbing for 73-87 and 88-00 Electrical, Exterior, Interior, ETC... Be it subs in the pre-existing forums, or subs in here. Or even an engine section or two, and a general truck section. Say, Tech, Performance, and General Truck...
I'm in Crawford County, about 20 miles South of Erie.
Yup, brand new Warpspeed off eBay. The cat varies, greatly. As a general rule, "S" does have a cat, and "F" does not, but there are tons of variations. A ton of "F"s out there have a cat/soot trap and a few (only ever heard of one...
Where at in PA? If you look around, you can find a good system cheap. Mine was right around $300.00 with the X=over, DP, and a tip. A little more because of the cat ("S" vin).
Now that's a pull. I'm still trying to find a source of parts before I go any further with this. Wouldn't make much sense to put a bunch of time and money into something that I can't get all the parts for.
Honestly, to a point, yes. I imagine they have a small gain over stock, but like Golds mentioned, a real gain would be noticed with a marine pump built for them. IMHO, if you have everything else, for the few extra bucks when changing injectors anyways, why not?
I think the point has been made over and over, that's over worn out stockers. In reality, I doubt there'd be much of a gain, brand new stock and brand new marine.
Main idea of a marine injector is atomization from higher pop pressure, not injecting more fuel. I think there may be some nozzle swapping involved too for different spray cone and atomization.
The problem with 4X4 auto is some super encoder thing in the tranny for 4X4 that most 94+ do not have. I do, however, think it'd probably be pretty easy on an OBD-I if you could get the transmission from a 92-93, and then use Bobbie Martin's manual. I was looking into this, but after e-mailing...
Bobbie Martin has a book on this. I was considering it, but decided being 4X4 auto, it'd be more trouble than I'd want.
On a side note, you may have more luck finding a DB-2.
