How to remove cruise/wiper lever on 93 GMC 1500

Yeah, it just pops out - it has a pair of tabs on it that get captured by a check ball/spring type mechanism inside the switch. Just set yourself up to pull it with a "stop" like your body in the way so you don't snatch it hard enough to damage the cruise control cable, which is the jacketed...

    DANA??

My old black '94 was a purty truck after I got through with it, but even kind of beat-up and trashy I still love HD's - like my old '95 - They're like mini-Kodiaks. :D Richard

Opinions on 99-03' GM BBlks 7.4/8.1 and SBlk 5.3/5.7

Yes - all the mentions of high oil consumption I've seen in the 8.1's are the early years, 2001-early 2003. That's what bums me out about them since if I were to buy a GMT4xx 3500HD with the 8.1 that would only be 2001-2002 since after that the model was discontinued. Richard

    VSSB calibration

In that picture up top from TBIchips that he has labeled "1991 DRAC" his numbering scheme is correct for the single bank design. Richard

Opinions on 99-03' GM BBlks 7.4/8.1 and SBlk 5.3/5.7

The big blocks are torque monsters and will pull a house down but they do have their inherent problems, the most obvious of which is MPG. ;) The Vortec 7.4's (1996-2000) are known for problems relating to bad injectors (good new ones will cost you $300+), bad fuel pressure regulator ($50+ and...

    GMPARTSDIRECT Injectors?

Not responding in particular to the injectors question as I don't know jack about Duramax stuff, but the thing to keep in mind when asking questions about GMPartsdirect is that they are operated by a GM dealer; Flow GM Auto Center of Winston-Salem NC. The other thing to keep in mind is that...

    DANA??

Yeah as we're discussing over in the gear oil thread, the "old body style" (GMT4xx series) 3500HD's, 1991-2002 model run, came with Dana 80's. When guys that own 3500HD's say 3500HD, they mean the 15,000 lb. GVWR, 19.5 wheeled, 10 lug rear, 4 wheel disc brake, straight axle front end monsters...

    VSSB calibration

Yep, #1 jumper is always on, which means in the case of the 2 bank DRACs, the #1 position is always open on the 2nd bank. I've done many with just 6 position DIPs as they're fairly easy to find. Throttle valve cable on the 700R4/4L60 goes in at the upper side of the valve body area, and...

    Gear oil recommendations?

Not banned. :D When I made a few tongue-in-cheek comments about things that could be improved on the site, I got a very snotty "You sure complain a lot about something you get for free" comment by the admins. When I considered that my answer to question ratio on most forums (and particularly...

LED Clearnce lights on the 1994 K3500

I bought the clear Recon lenses that came w/LED bulbs and they're great. Physically the lenses are identical to OEM, just clear instead of amber. They fit perfectly and looked good. The OEM lenses are readily available at most dealers. It's been forever since I bought any, maybe 5 years, but...

    VSSB calibration

You have to be careful following the years indicated on those pictures from TBIChips because he got DRACs/info from apparently several vehicles, not just fullsize trucks; in 1991 the fullsize truck did not even use a DRAC like that - it was built into the cluster, like the picture I posted. It...

    Gear oil recommendations?

Looking through several of the owners' manuals, some of them don't reference the HD. My 1992 and 1995 manuals don't. 2000* C/K manual indicates 75W90 synthetic for the rear on regular models, 75W140 synthetic for the Dana 80 in the 3500HD's (*manual is from a GMT400 C2500, carryover C/K...

    Gear oil recommendations?

No additive used in the Gov-Loc. There's some conflicting info out there (and lots of debates) but there is also a TSB direct from GM that says do not use "posi" or "limited slip" type additives in your gear oil if you have a Gov-Loc, unless you want trouble from it. The Gov-Loc does have...

Aftermarket cd/mp3 stereo for chevy silverado -94?

Hmmm. Kinda close. But since you spend your time in a '96 you might not readily notice the main difference. ;) It's not that big of a deal to get a tach cluster for the 92-94 models. However that cluster has a 6K tach instead of the regular gasser 5K tach, but the main difference is 110MPH...

What is the best dim headlight bulb for the 1994 K3500?

Problem with HIR's are the availability, and also that you need to do a very slight hack to their base to retrofit them to 9005/9006 sockets. No big deal. HID's are great too, as long as you get them in a reasonable color temperature, and DO NOT use them in the factory housings on the 88-98...

Aftermarket cd/mp3 stereo for chevy silverado -94?

Those are AutoMeter brand gauges, "Z Series", 2-1/16" size, which I picked because they had at least some similarity in appearance to the stock dash cluster (white lettering, black face, orange needles) - especially after I swapped my cluster out with one that still had nice bright orange...

    Headlight for new grill.

What year model did you end up getting the harness from? Are you 100%, and I mean 100% sure, that there are no modifications, hacks, or damage to it? If it didn't come from another 1995, you may have discovered another "1995 one year only" issue, as there are quite a few. The headlight switch...

Aftermarket cd/mp3 stereo for chevy silverado -94?

That storage pocket also makes a handy spot for a pair of gauges. Depending on the size of whatever remote your new stereo comes with, it may still fit in there along with the gauges. The one for my Pioneer head unit fits just fine in there. Be sure to get the storage pocket that has a "lip"...

    Headlight for new grill.

Sounds like you missed the grounds. There's one for each side of the core support, driver/passenger - separate black wire with a ring terminal on it. Richard

About ready to pull the trigger on DB2 conversion for a 1994

Thanks Louis, I've already read the guide several times and since it addresses both automatic & manual trans trucks, it's kind of confusing. He does say a few times that "if you have a manual you can skip the next section" but the information isn't as clearly delineated as I would like! But...
