How difficult of an install is a stepper motor? Dash have to be torn apart? I'll check the odometer against some highway markers, can't figure out how to get my GPS to read forward in tenths from zero.
I bought a Vgate ELM327 Bluetooth scan adapter. This is a cool little gadget for only 11 bucks, I loaded the Torque app on my phone and can read OBDII data.
Turns out the speed signal and the GPS speed match almost perfectly:
So, does that mean I just need a set of dip switches to...
I have to be in Concord mid afternoon, will stop in if you are there. I'm planning to put in 2 or 3 gauges, need to get a pillar mount. Not sure if I want to put just boost and fuel pressure, or do 3 and put egt as well.
It's not that the speedo is all that big of a deal, but I'd like the...
I didn't think that Actron would read speed, could give it a try. I ordered a 10 dollar elm 327 bluetooth as suggested above, sounds like a cool app to run on your phone. No tune yet, will order one at some point. Truck runs perfect! I might go for the dip switches once I figure this out...
Thanks Marty, that's a great link. It says it's for 92-95 VSSB, but I assume it continued on through 2000, is that right?
Ferm, you may be right, just calibrated for a much different gear set.
Thanks for the comments! The difference is too large to just be from a tire size change, and it has 245/75-16's on it. I assume it came standard with 4.10's, I'm sure that's what's in it now from the rpm/speed that I see. Also, the speedo difference is progressive with speed so can't just be...
The speedo on my '98 K2500 reads very high, about 23-25% higher than actual. 45 indicated is actually about 36, 85 indicated is actually about 69. Any ideas on why this is happening, and a fix?
Also, is the odometer linked to the speedo on these, or are they getting their signal separately?
Wow, that dually is clean!
On the Suburban you saw, my friend said those are called "Suburbalanche". That's another way to go with it, I assume the bed is then about 4 ft. long?
Jorge, from some basic specs I've looked at I don't think they are the same. Plus, from what the guys here are saying a frame shortening is really easy on these trucks. I'd say any time you don't have to remove and replace a cab you've saved yourself a lot of work!
It would be nice to find one, and I'm not in a hurry. It can be hard to find something like this on the Craigslist search sites, and Autotrader and Cars.com don't tend to have many of the older vehicles. The specific words aren't always used in the ads so there's a lot of trucks marked...
I'm pretty sure I'd just put a standard short bed on it then. Tempting to do something a bit different but the regular bed would probably be most practical.
Vegtech has it exactly right!!!
As a very experienced IP water pourer (from my Suburban a few years ago) it doesn't take a ton of water, just pour slowly in the right place so it splashes the pump, and don't wait long before trying the restart. A 16 oz. water bottle was enough, poured slowly...
I've seen a few, just not diesel. For me it would be perfect, extended cab is OK but not really enough room for kids, especially when I have the seat comfortably back. If I can find out that some 6.5 ones exist, I'll hold out and try to find one.
I'm interested in finding a 4WD crew cab short bed SRW. I've looked quite a bit and am not sure if they were made or not. Anyone here have one? If so were they GMC, Chevy, or both?
