Tires on My truck are 285-75-16s They too are quite wide and tall. Mileage before the new engine was a pretty steady 15.5 highway/city combined. So its actually about 1 MPG off from what it was. 1 MPG does add up and it dont take long.

Those old mechanical lift pumps, the diaphragms rupture then they pump fuel right straight into the crank case. Dilutes the oil then washes out the bearings and rings too if run long enough.
