Leaving it hang pan side down and pulling the pan keeps residual oil in pan from leaking through the engine and creating a terrible bad mess.
No matter if the pan is drained, still plenty enough oil to make a lot bigger mess.
Seems that install a clear 1/4” fuel hose on the return system, fire it up and ready to roll. 😹😹😹😹
Get a cheap HF engine stand, hang it, dint roll it over, pan side down then Pull the pan and then pull the heads.
Heads most likely are cracked between valves. Also, from what I read a lot about...
A long time friend, on his 45 cu in Harley.
Getting it ready for its first road trip, asked him, hows the brakes, his response, brakes is for beginners, lets ride. 😹😹😹
Yeah, he was dragging his feet to get stopped. He had taps tacked to his boots. In the dark sparks would fly.
Timing chain/sprocket set and an oil pump/pan gasket and it’ll go anothe 150,000 without having to mess with those.
At 123,000 its due for at the least the timing chain/sprocket set amd a coolant pump too while You got it offt.
And when pulling GPs if there are any that seems difficult then stop, do not go any farther.
Order in that GP removal tool that Leroy makes and sells.
Every 6.2/6.5 owner should be equipped with one such tool.
I have always run AC Delco GPs even when I was meching for the DOT over here and have...

Yeah, that would be the simplest.
I’m already a member in three social media sites and IDK how many groups.
Several Jesus type groups and several HD groups along with a couple or three old pickup truck groups.

The good ones, the posi seal units.
Then I think that blue smoke on a starup will greatly decrease.
That is oil thats burning off the tops of the pistons...
First code P0700 TCM.
Thats the one to start with, first in line.
The following search takes us on many routes, seems the second route would be the first and most sensible, in My estimation.
https://carscounsel.com/p0700-code/
That route leads us to checking all of the connections to the TCM...
Welcome to the forum CW.

Has the PCM/ECM thrown any codes ?
I know nothing about Allison transmissions, maybe someone with more knowledge on tje matter will jump in.
And here is for a five pin relay switch.
Someone smarter than Me will have to explain which circuits needs to go to which pin.
IIRC, 87A is hooked to the momentary switch then is spliced into the live line to the LP.
