    ATF and cat converter

I'm not sure , but I don't use diesel additive in my transmission either.:D Used motor oil did not improve lubricity in Spicer's test, so trans fluid might not either.

gmc 2500hd duramax w/ allison tranny question

The Allison will go into "Limp Mode" to protect itself if it thinks it is being subjected to driving conditions that can cause damage. 193F is not a temperature to worry about. Hopefully the dealer is right, keep us posted and we'll do all we can to help you troubleshoot.

    ATF and cat converter

ATF has a ton of detergent and dispersant in the additive package, kind of the opposite of Non Detergent oil.

    Dura-Ration at the drags

That 30 feet would equate to .253 seconds assuming you were no longer accelerating. => It would be a little less, without knowing what v2 and v3 is I can't figure that, but about .25 sec is a good kitchen physics guess.

Change or not change-fluid that is

Sorry, I just saw this thread. I'd recommend Amsoil ATF (Dex III compatible, not VI). My spreadsheet shows 7.8qts for initial fill and 13.6qts for total fill of a 4L80-E. To flush or not to flush? I'm not a transmission expert, so I'm going to stay in my lane (cop out?) and say I don't have...
