    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

After the fuel system I started on the next mod: a new turbo header. I was originally going to rework the one I made years ago so it had a divided T4 flange, but I decided to make a new one since the old one is getting rusty. I also figured I could improve on the old design. I decided to make...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Yesterday I got the fuel system all reattached. I hooked up the lines by the engine, but didn’t mount them yet because I need to make sure everything clears once I start putting sheet metal on. I made the fuel filter mounting bracket a couple days ago and that is also raw in case I need to...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I know, I think the same thing when I put in extra effort to make a part look nice: “Will I be ok with this looking like poop again someday?” “Do I need to get another truck so I won’t drive this one in the winter?” or “I hope this paint is good enough to keep this thing looking good after I...

Yup. That’s what I’m doing with this truck.

They make compressors that are a newer scroll style, but with the R4 form factor. That’s what I had in the truck before and it performed fine. I can’t speak to longevity though.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I was lucky and found a 3500HD with dual alternators at the junkyard and robbed the bracket from that truck. After I got mine home and saw the part number I did a search and found that someone is already making repops of them...

Man, I wish I hadn’t let this thread get so far behind, because I have so much to post to catch this up and I really don’t want to at this point. I promise I will though. Here’s current state as of today.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I’m way behind on updates. I’ll be making some posts over the next couple days to get this updated. For now I’ll share that I painted all of the bolts on the frame (except the upper control arm bolts since those will get wrenched on during the alignment) with one coat of KBS Rust Seal and then a...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I got my 70 C10 in 94. It was from Alabama - not rust-free, but not nearly as rusty as the trucks around here. I was told it was originally a 6 cylinder truck that never had the oil changed, so a 64 283 was installed in its place and that’s what was in the truck when I bought it. The 283 started...

    1998 6.5L K3500 Turbo

@Hink sucks more than the inlet of my frankenturbo - I read about it on a bathroom wall 😉

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I went to the junkyard today to get a passenger side fender since mine is crusty. I also got some decent inner fenders. While taking parts off of the truck, I glanced at the engine again. I already knew it had a 6.5, but it was a DS4 truck, so nothing really interesting for me, but…….I had...

Front brake lines are done. It’s finally time to switch to engine work.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I hadn’t looked at the brake lines on the axle straight on from the rear until I looked at the picture I took. The right one was bothering me. Fixed.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

This weekend I got the small brackets mounted to the frame first. Next thing I got done was replace the rear wheel bearings and seals as well as the parking brake cables. I really debated about whether I should mess with the bearings or not, but ultimately decided I would regret it later if I...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

The Gabriel Max Control shocks I installed when I got the truck together rode nice, and were still working well, but they were already rusting……and I just couldn’t put rusty shocks on this chassis. I decided to go full gooch and put Bilstein shocks on this time. I know they’ll work well, but I...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Last night I got the chassis back down on all fours again. I reinstalled all crossmembers and brackets that had been preciously riveted with grade 8 7/16-14 bolts and distorted thread locknuts plus red Loctite. I had a heck of a time getting the torsion bar crossmember reinstalled on...

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

LMC does make a repro dash for that generation now. While not cheap, I've heard good reviews of them so far, and it will be less hassle than a full swap and the cost probably isn't that much different than getting everything needed to complete a swap...

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

Yeah, you can't really do just the dash harness, you have to do the underhood stuff as well because they changed how the harness routes between the 2 generations. The dash would be easy to clean once it's removed, but not sure you could clean the rest of it well enough to get the smell out.
