Only for model year 2007 and newer is the Allison covered for 5yr/100K. For 2006 and older models the Allison was covered by the 36mo/36K mile bumper to bumper warranty. Unless you bought a used GM Certified truck from a GM dealer after Jan 1, 2007, in which case GM extended the complete...
The 2006 Duramax did have a 5yr/100K mile warranty, but for the engine only. So glowplugs would be covered. GM changed the warranty to cover the complete powertrain starting with the 2007 model year.
Well, as I said previously, "Never underestimate the abuse of power by those entrusted with it!"
If it can be physically done, someone, somehow, will figure out an "excuse" to do it. - All that is needed is for a crooked politician or judge to issue a subpoena to get your information and...
Yes I do. It is the 5 year old style that does NOT have GPS capability.
I know that they can triangulate the towers and get a close approximation of your location if they want to, but that isn't as easy to do, and it doesn't really bother me. I can easily turn off the phone and take the battery...
I personally do not like regular cab trucks. Not being able to recline the seat makes for a very uncomfortable ride for me, especially while plowing where you have to back up just about as much as you go forward. Being able to reposition the seat is a great feature and regular cabs just don't...
You get more than just a rear view mirror replacement. You get a GPS unit along with most of the tricky sh*t that OnStar will do in vehicle equipped from the factory.
The problem is that since THEY control the actual data connection turn OFF, they can also turn it back ON without your knowledge. I see too many opportunities for covert activity by unscrupulous employees, politician, judges, etc.
As far as I know, most GM vehicle now come standard with OnStar...
OnStar Tracking of Your Vehicle Continues even AFTER Cancellation of Service
About 5 years ago, I was ridiculed by many and was told to get a tin foil hat when I stated that I would NOT buy any vehicle equipped with OnStar, because they can track your whereabouts, listen to your...
You can post your VIN in the VIN Check section and in a few days, one of the member techs will post the history of your truck. If it has been reflashed, it should appear in the truck's history.
Glow plugs should be covered under the GM extended warranty, as long as it is within the...
I hear you, Mike. But according to everything I have read about this job, it takes a lot longer than 5 minutes to complete. They charged me for 1.5 hours to do the work @ $85/hr.
I just hope the GPCM has not been damaged. I don't need any more unforeseen expenses right now.
It is interesting that you would mention that. When I picked up my truck after the dealer replace the failed glow plug, they told me to keep an eye on it because quite often the Glow Plug Controller fails in a short time.
This comment made me wonder if they had done something that could affect...
Thanks for the info Sarge. That's good to know for future reference.
They charged me just under $40 for one glow plug and one nut plus labor, for a total of $169.24
I'll have to keep that in mind in case this happens again.
Thank you all for your responses and the moral support.
Sorry I haven't had time to get back on line. We got a week extension on the deadline for this bid, so we've been busy trying to fine tune it and get it ready for submittal.
Needless to say, I didn't have the time to work on the truck...
Hopefully, I can get home tomorrow so I can get to my tools.
Having only one vehicle makes it NOT much fun when you have to work on the only transportation you have. :(
Tomorrow, I'm going to call around and see if I can get a glowplug and how much.
I guess I can pretty much conclude right...
Very nice write-up Grady!
Looks like I'm gonna be replacing #7 glowplug on my '06 LBZ this weekend.
I'm hoping the tip is not broken off....
The Tech Bulletin says to replace all 8, but I'm hoping I will only need to replace the one that's setting the P0677 code.
What is the risk if I...
Yes, I had the glow plug recall taken care of when the truck was two months old, if I remember correctly.
I was really happy that for the first five years I only had less than a handful of minor issues and all during the first year or so. The only significant issue I had during the extended...
