    how much would you tow?

I'm hoping to be able to tow my camper with my new (to me) Sub 2500. The camper is 11k gvw, 8500 dry weight. My lifted dually with ATT, tune and exhaust works hard to pull it up the hills. Tows nice on level ground, but reallys struggles in the mountains. It's better than it was before mods. I...

Another HID light post for 6.5's Make your truck look like it has factory fog lights.

those aftermarket housings are probably ten times better than a factory housing, because of the plated reflectors with the refracting shapes cut into them. Somewhere I have a picture of my headlights at an angle that looks just like the top photo in post #16. My HID low beam makes my Sylvania...

Another HID light post for 6.5's Make your truck look like it has factory fog lights.

can you see the turn signal with the HID fog light on? I kinda like the idea, but I always drive with my headlights on, and my 97 has HID low beams, so I think it would be redundant.

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

Somebody mentioned the AC compressor earlier? I can hear it making noise, and it doesn't work. Doesn't engage the clutch or anything when you turn it on. Compressor time?

Patrick, I like how they look with the truck centercaps, maybe I'll do that if mine dont work out. I'll try to get the right lugnut covers first probably. I don't mind those Alcoas -except- they look like a factory Ford wheel. I know I've seen that exact style on Fords, and while they look nice...

couldnt agree more. I dont have the same cup holders you guys are talking about (unless I havent found them yet)], my 97 does and they do make a mess. these are in the center console, I like them, little closer to hand and easier to clean up if it spills. I'm thinking about 235/85s too, big...

I think somebody around here has those HD wheels on their Suburban, I've seen it before and love how they look

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

no they're 16, the ones GM puts on 2500hds from I think 2001 and up. I know they are narrow rims but I've seen 285s on them before. I have 255/85s on my dually because they're narrow. Dont want to buy them again, they are an oddball size and hard to find. I don't want to go really huge, just...

got the correct temp sender replaced, now the gauge works. The water neck is all covered in orange permatex, guy told me it needs a new gasket. I looked closely and saw it is actually leaking from a hole in the upper hose, right underneath the hose clamp. New hose will be waiting for me at...

Side windows look mirrored too. it is black, and Im going to put window rain visors on it asap. Cause the left rear window will creep down if you shut it hard, and then wont go back up on its own. Think I scored some late model HD alloy wheels. What do you think, cranked bars and 285/75s? Maybe...

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

wish Id taken some before pics of the carpet. looked like someone spilled coffee every morning for years and never once cleaned it up. Didnt think it would come clean but it did. 2 vanilla scented little trees and its starting to not smell like an ashtray anymore. Need to get a razor scraper to...

I dont want a locker up front, too much low-speed or stopped steering, plus if all the tires spin on a slight sidehill you're going in the snowbank. 6 degrees this morning and it fired right up, cheapy little mismatched batteries and all. Learned that the temp sender I replaced was for the...

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

I think I'm going to have to save up for a locker. This thing will not move on ice in 2wd. My 82 got stuck in my yard already and had to tug it out with the 97, the 82 doesnt have a locker either. This Sub won't climb a tiny little hill without 4wd, and even then it spins. I am so accustomed to...

If you've never noticed, the big rear axle under a Sub or even 2500 Avalanche looks real narrow, funny looking once you notice it. It's just a little bit narrower axle is all. Not as noticeable under a pickup bed I'd guess. I'm sure lots of people add a spacer just to make the tires look right...

Also, glove box says gt4 so 3.73, that's ok with me. And it is without question a full floater, I know this because it's missing a *$&^*& rear center cap. And trim ring. Doesnt a full floater seem like ridiculous overkill for a suburban? I dont think you could even get enough weight over the...

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

Haha, Secret Service, I like that. Fiddled with a couple things today in between raking and shoveling 4 million cubic feet of snow off the roof. I got the left rear window motor to come alive just enough to shut the window tightly, but I think the motor is junk, it sounds sick. Windshield leaks...
