Just went thru this last week, my rotors were junk. Pads were fine though; obviously when changing rotors is such a nightmare they get pad-slapped over and over. Same thing happened as with my 97, I couldn't get the four bolts out in the back. Thin wall socket, 30 gal air compressor at 180psi...
my 97 got a hair under 14 when it was all stock except exhaust. after I modded it all up I wasnt able to get accurate mileage readings because the speedo was off, but it never seemed too bad until the last year or so. I thought the ULSD killed it. But between the lift, tires, lightbar, etc. I...
Vaicase, what was the reason for the 7 inch flare? Does a single rear wheel stick out that far? I think what the OP was wonering is if a single wheel will stick out or in or where it will end up. Seems to me on that wide rearend it would be out. But 7 inches is a lot, almost maybe should leave...
well the inner wheel of the dually wont hit the frame because it has to have a dually hub brake drum on it. that sticks it out about 6 inches or more. if you tried putting a dually wheel over a srw brake drum it would hit everything. Measuring the axle from inside backing plate to other backing...
I keep thinking about doing that with my 82 dually, only because there is nothing out there for tall skinny tires. If it was a four wheeler I could easily score some 35-37s for it and make it look cool. BUT, the main reason I bought the truck was because I've always wanted a fleetside dually...
I've had mine for a couple years now, at first I thought I noticed a difference but I'm so used to it now I don't know. It certainly doesn't feel fast to me, and the dragstrip proved that. Even running it hard at stoplight to stoplight it feels kind of slow. Not saying it's the ATT, it's more...
Anybody know the particulars of the warranty? My friend bought a used truck a couple years ago, pyo rims were pitted a little and GM gave him four new ones.
I saw a set today that had been powdercoated flat black. Lot of people would have probably liked them, because it came out nice, but I...
I just realized something, Aces is in Connecticut! That's why all the doom & gloom. When I was trucking, everybody knew better than to get stopped or go to a weigh station in Ct, they are the biggest ball-busters in the country. Except maybe for Pennsylvania.
Ha Ha Ha that's a great idea. Although I'm not in much of a good mood to deal with the state right now. Just registered another vehicle and my rectal cavity is still extremely sore. We arrest people for stealing, but the state does it every day and it's okay
Kenny why would it be legal to run clear kerosene and not dyed? I thought it was about the road tax not being applied. I have red because I bought it in Mass, NH doesnt dye k-1 apparently. So I just went and bought some clear k-1 at the pump. But like I said before, it's 40 cents more a gallon...
yeah thats what I was worried about, I know it will burn, but I didnt want to hurt anything electronical. I guess we're going to find out, I dumped about 7 gallons in there, and it only had about that much in it already. Not sure if I've got any oil, but I have some white power service I can...
I've got several gallons of kerosene I need to get rid of. It is red-dyed fuel bought last week, should be clean and fresh, but my kerosene heaters don't like the dye so I want to go back to using clear. Problem is all my fuel cans are full; can I dump 5 or 10 gallons into my pickup to burn it...
I still want to know how to get 24mpg out of a 6.5 dually. I don't want to call BS, but I've been on 6.5 forums since 2001 when I bought my truck, and I've never heard of anyone even coming close to that. The highest mpgs I've heard of approached 20-22, and that was with 2wd Suburbans that have...
I meant reliable referring to the one-off nature of the swap, not the duramax itself. I can picture going down the road 8 hours from home with the family and a camper behind, and the truck shuts off with no warning. Now what? I wouldn't know where to start or what to check on a conversion. Nor...
Just have to chime in here. Well, rant about my personal opinion and experience would better describe it. My sister had a v10 04 Excursion 4x4 that I drove numerous times. First impression? Gorgeous vehicle. Eddie Bauer trim, leather 9 passenger interior was one of the nicest interiors I've...
Funny, I always noticed that my fuel mileage with the 6.5 doesn't suffer as much as you'd think when towing.
DOT cops in my corner of the country are starting to go after race team haulers. Many of them dont have CDLs, but they say if you have a sponsor name anywhere on the truck, trailer or...
League City, wow what a small world. Never heard of it before in my life until last year, my best friend moved down there and got on the police department.
Congrats on the burb, cant help you with shipping it though.
well that makes sense. the powerslots I was given did come off a 2500. they looked so wimpy I decided not to use them on the dually. I think I threw them out...
Oh well. Stock HD brakes are a lot better than anybody gives them credit for. I need new HD brakes to control my truck, not to stop...
I definitely am going to do the cooling system mods, my 97 has the dual thermostats and even that made me nervous, at least until I adjusted the fan clutch. Now I can't even get the temps up on the highway with the plow on.
Probably be keeping the little 245s for now. I had a pair of used...
