    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

I go by the factory service service manual and install balancers with a mallet and block of wood. Worked great on my 6.5 and my 6.2 Local AutoZone doesn't have the correct adapter which I think is m16-1.5 an odd thread. I haven't checked anywhere else because I don't usually go to the other...

    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

Do you know the part number for the alignment tool? I haven't seen any mention of it in my manuals.

    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

I soaked the crank and gears in fresh Rotella before installing and everything went on smoothly, thanks guys! It wasn't a loose fit by any means but light tapping with a rubber mallet got the crank gear on easy. Chain is nice and tight, very happy with it. The timing gear drive set looks sexy...

    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

The gears do slide on with some resistance. But I can't seem to get the assembly on, seems like the chain is too tight. Any tips for a newbie?

    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

Some of them are fairly deep and I thought the same thing that one or more of the marks look like a sheared keyway but it is still intact in the proper spot. Balancer and pulley look fine but are being replaced anyway. Timing chain and gear set are being replaced also with a mechanical set (no...

    Wear marks on crankshaft snout

Guys, I'm working on my buddies mechanical 6.5 turbo diesel and noticed some odd wear marks all around the front of the crank where the harmonic balancer slides on. Anyone know what might have caused this and if it's serious or not? The motor is out of the truck and I'm replacing the timing...

WTB: Transfer case to bellhousing brace

This is for my buddy's truck, my 84 has the brace but I don't know how to make one so I'm just looking to buy one.

WTB: Transfer case to bellhousing brace

Want to buy the long brace that goes from my 700r4 bellhousing to NP208 transfer case. Going on an 82 K20 6.2 diesel, any year will work as long as it's the same trans/transfer case combo.

    1988 Chevy 2500 4x4 (gas) - $500 (Indy east)

It's possible for sure, just easier said than done. The wiring harness will be the biggest issue, finding one might be tough. Does it have a 700r4? Converting it from toilet bowl injection to carb might be easier/cheaper. I would knock him down on the price no matter what though.

This is a hot start video after the GR starter install, it cranks the same speed even when cold.

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

Update on my starting issue, I replaced the starter with a reman GR unit from Autozone and she fired right up! The DD bracket could be made to work easily enough by cutting it shorter and drilling a new hole for the stud on the starter but I'm going to order the correct one.

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

I know that there are two different brackets but I don't know if my DD bracket will still work on a GR starter. I'm thinking not.

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

Can you confirm that the DD bracket will work with a GR starter? Weighing my options here.

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

I can use the same bracket for both types of starters? I just finished getting the old starter out, you have to unbolt and remove the bump stop from the frame to have room to slide the starter out, found that out the hard way haha. Once it's out of the way though there is plenty of room to get...

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

Thanks for the info Ferm, I didn't know that. I went ahead and bought a 4 gauge cable to replace it anyway though. I'm checking all the parts stores in town for a starter and it seems like they only carry the gear reduction starter, mine is most likely a DD and would need a different bracket if...

    glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. I want to spend money and get this fixed, no issue there. The issue is that the truck is in an apartment parking lot and I don't have a crimper or multimeter or any of that jazz, just two tool boxes full of wrenches, socket sets and other misc. tools...
