Was a fleet truck, certainly possible it got the wrong alternator pulley at some point

With that outta the way, first tank of fuel after the new clutch nets 13.5mpg, compared to the 12mpg before (since the SES light started intermittently showing up). When I first got the truck it averaged 15mpg. Plugged my desktop into the truck with a long USB cable. Codes are: 35 active 34...

    Fuel mileage

Fuel economy o the HD after the new clutch, 13.5mpg so far. Slight improvement. Thinking the SES light is related to turbo boost. Goes off when towing or working the engine but comes back on after awhile of easy driving

    Fuel mileage

When I got the truck 15mpg, with the sporadic SES light 12mpg, just replaced clutch so dont know yet. 3500HD with 5.13 gears 33" tires nv4500 puts it at 3400rpm at 60mph so it's over revved when it comes to fuel economy.

Flywheel and pressure plate appeared original, so 157,000 miles. Clutch disk looked like a replacement at some point, had a good amount of material left but wasn't new. Guessing the clutch disk was replaced somewhere around 100-120k mile mark. Clutch moves easier now than it ever has. Thinking...

As posted in the other thread, during a trip to Dallas last week the clutch completely failed. Being away from home, and not having flat ground to pull the trans or equipment to pull the engine/trans out of this truck I limped it to a shop. 157k miles, original dual mass flywheel and pressure...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Currently only have 1 road worthy truck, the HD. It's getting all new clutch parts. The hydraulics failed again not long after I got to Dallas last week. Original dual mass flywheel after 157k miles, done. Can move both sections by hand and the bearings are visible/showing wear. Clutch still...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Lost the clutch on Friday and had to drop it off to get replaced since I don't currently have the place or equipment to pull the trans. HD still had the original dual mass flywheel which fell apart and the clutch pressure plate was done. Input shaft will need replacement later due to wear at...

Hopefully replaced the clutch hydraulics for the last time, 3 times within 14,000 miles is ridiculous. Well for the master it's actually the 4th since the 3rd one that was sent last week leaked from the hose connection due to a manufacturing defect. Wrapped it in the same exhaust wrap from the...

    C3500HD Tow pig

Quickly made up some angle iron mud flat mounts. They sit further back than I would like (just behind the rear shackle hangers) but didn't require any trimming of the mud flaps to place them there. Eventually want them closer to the tire so they serve as the bottom/rear of the fenderwells and...

Had to travel back to Texas before the bed is finished. Other than the mounts this is a current pic. Main frame is complete.

    C3500HD Tow pig

Got the bed for free, poles were about $20 if I remember right (crane support legs from the m816). Little 4500 lb mile marker winch and the pivots are towbar feet from the 5 ton wrecker as well. Absolutely got my money's worth out of it haha. After seeing the bed flex I figured it would have...

    C3500HD Tow pig

Oddly enough I think the wrecker bed is lighter than expected, the gin poles handled it easier (bed and mast together) than a single water tank. Once the axle was loaded up lowered the poles for hopefully the last time on this bed. Then hooked up the trailer, plan is to leave tomorrow. Drop...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Been making the rusted out flatbed flex over the past couple days using the gin poles for some lifting needs. Water tank is the heaviest so far at about 2450 lbs.

    C3500HD Tow pig

Almost done with this gin pole setup, just a few more things to lift. The water containers are about 2450 lbs each and as can be seen, the bed flexes a bit haha. In it's defense though, the front most mount for the bed is at the front of the hitch rails. Tomorrow loading the wrecker bed, wrecker...

    C3500HD Tow pig

Haha that stuff gets everywhere. Bit of the idea/needs for the truck bed being built. My list is that the truck can lift 2,000 lbs safely with the poles at least 5ft off the ground. Tow gooseneck and 5th wheel trailers with no clearance issues in the typical 180 degree ark. Rolling tailboard so...

    Walbro Lift Pump Fail

Yep Walbro design is flow on fail, and they did have a run of quality issues for awhile. Seems the FRC series was more problematic. Have 2 FRB-5 pumps, one the older design and the other is the updated higher flow/pressure design. The updated one is working well for my 6.5 for the last 12,000...
