3 PSI boost is not enough pressure.
Is this a manual waste gate, vacuum actuated waste gate or does it even have a waste-gate ?
If you dont know which waste gate the turbo has then give us a picture of the turbo.
Usually smoke on startup after setting over night or some such is a sign that the valve stem seals is not functioning properly.
Good plan to do the compression test then if some chljnders are lower than others check to see if its rings or valves.
Add oil through the sparking plug holes then...
I sent him a message.
He replied that the Stanadyne black box was on the IP when He bought the truck, but, it was running off of a remote pump driver behind the front bumper.
I’ll remove it.
I do have a faulty Stanadyne grey box and now this Stanadyne black box I’d send to @dbrannon79 if he...
The used IP arrived yesterday.
Appears to be a mighty fine unit.
I now have another known good spare to send out if anyone needs a test unit.
It does have a black box Stanadyne PMD mounted on the pump that I presume was functioning.
I will send him a message and ask if that is a functioning PMD.
Can I have that Blazer ?
That is a real beauty.
I wonder if a the IP is properly functioning or if a bigger turbo could be installed to supply more air to the intake.
Why new heads ?
It aint broke dont fix it.
I had a 93 K1500 ext cab. 350, 4L60E.
At about 150,000 miles installed a new timing chain/sprocket set and had the harmonic balancer cut down and a sleeve made for it to bring it back to OE spec on the OD where the front crank seal rides.
At near...
Finished wwith the engine portion. Installed inner fender and air filter.
Checked all fluid levels, fired it up and took it for a drive.
With the IP leaking on over 100 miles of the last journey, it took only 20 gallons to fill the tank.
Reset the trip meter, now we shall see.
After I got back...
The adapter bolt was moist so cleaned it off, got out the 1-7/16ths, might have been 1-3/8ths socket with the 3/4 to 1/2 adapter and give it some snug.
That seems to have stopped that seep. It was still dry after the several test runs.
I’m putting it back together. Turbo and upper intake is all...
Lower Intake back on. Wires and hoses all hooked. Turbo setting on the exhaust manifold and the nutz is all on but not tight.
Had to take a break to come in and watch Gold Rush. 😹😹😹😹
It will be finished tomorrow. 🫣😃😹
Fired the truck up. Runs great. Getting good at bolting the pump to the engine and getting the timing offset fairly close.
Checked the offset and it is on -0.079. I left it there.
After fixing one fuel return hose at the front of the right sside head, seems to not have some leaks.
After about an...
This is a Flight Systems IP.
The pump was functioning real nice like, it just had a loose fitting.
I checked all eight of the outlet fittings on the back of the new pump. They all seemed to be tight.
New Stanadyne PD is getting mounted to a new heat sink.
I’m welding on another heat sink...
Original IP is removed from the engine.
Beginning to warm out there.
Shut down the garage and fired up the AC unit.
See if it’ll cool some before I invite my friend over to mess more with this Triumph motorcicle.
That and I have a couple parts I need to remove from the original pump and install...
Daylight is appearing, time to get to the garage, get that original IP removed and the new unit installed.
See how it runs with that.
Today I’ll box the reman Flight Systems pump and send it back.
I am in no way condemning the FS reman pumps.
I believe that it was a fluke that I got one with a...
Usually a good brand of brake and parts cleaner does nicely.
Before getting too carried away, spray some in rag until it is saturated, then rub some onto an area of the valve that contacts no surfaces and see if the foamy portion disintegrates.
Orielly store brand is good stuff.
I have tried...
That little black ground wire is never long enough.
I’ll clip and strip that and add in about eight inches of extension wire of the same gauge.
Then the harness plugs can reach out where I have the extension harnesses from the PMDs located.
Also, I have a spare heat sink and also an extension...
