Okay, I've ordered a mechanic stethoscope and will for sure pin point the location before I tear it apart. Thanks for the advice. A few years back (when the truck was my dad's), he hit a buck and the antlers pierced the oil cooler, I'm not for sure all that he had replaced. It looks like oil has...
Okay, it's been a long day. I haven't had a chance to try any of the things you've suggested, but I plan on it first chance I get. It does have an oil leak, it's not to major, but it is a leak. And the starter is going out, that's probably what you were hearing when it started up. It dosent...
You can kinda hear the noise a little bit, but it is definitely not as bad as before. I'll see if I have a video of when it was worse and post that too
The oil have was going all the way down to zero at a hot idle. I also realized that I had overfilled the oil some when I changed it, so I corrected that tonight. Could that have made the oil pressure low? I don't know if you'll be able to here the clacking noise, since I put some Lucus upper...
So what I gather is that using some sort of injection cleaner/ lube I isn't really going to help. So I guess I just need to suck up and but some injectors. Another thing is that after I changed the oil and filter the other day the oil pressure has been reading low sometimes. It starts out normal...
I have been putting some Lucus fuel injector cleaner in recently. I think it was helping, may need to put some more in. Thanks for the info. Have an electrical problem that I could use some advice on, will probably do a post on it soon.
After some research I believe your right. I saw guys having similar knocking noises and it was the injectors. Thanks for the help. Are the injectors family easy to replace? They've never been changed in the ten years that we've had the truck.
The steering was really loose and the brakes were kinda weak; after I replaced the pump the steering wheel firmed up and the brakes weren't so weak. Although I remember now that I also filled up the power steering, which was low. I guess that could have had an effect on it too. Sorry if I'm not...
So the clacking noise was not the vaccum pump; but it did fix my loose steering wheel and week brakes, on a side note. Could the noise be something with the turbo? It doesn't happen all the time, mainly when I first start it up or when I accelerate. I'll attach a video. You can really hear it...
