    Electronic Variable Orfice power steering

Kenny the EVO is probably sealed by an O-ring. Odds are it's just dried out and cracked after all these years.

    Electronic Variable Orfice power steering

gotta love free. The EVO started in i believe 97. my 96 doesn't have that crap. I can steer just fine, although the original PS pump does whine due to the Lucas I put in there. The entire system leaks enough to make the pump and steering box wet but nothing on the ground. I've just dealt...

    Variable A/C orifice tube?

I believe there was a fixed orifice tube for "severe duty", more or less the desert. That might work for you.

    Considering selling my K2500

did i mention how i love the "OBD None" on my K-5? :hihi: Kenny has s good point. After owning one truck with each, the electronics are nice, when they work. When they don't, they are a nightmare. Also after owning a completely mechanical truck you become accustomed to how the truck sounds...

    Your 6.2L opinions/stories??

the 6.2s never came with the bumper with the holes. That was a 6.5T only thing. The holes in the bumper were designed to direct more air to the cooling stack in front of the radiator(oil/trans). The 6.2 had the coolers in the radiator tanks. No bumper holes needed.

    Hummer Fan clutch setup

Now here's a question. Is the air flow really so much better in the OBS(gmt-100) trucks that the condenser doesn't matter? Mine ran the same temp with or without the condenser installed, and doesn't seem to care if the A/C is running or not. Only difference i notice is a tad more boost if the...

    Wheel bearing meltdown.........

Not sure if you can get repair sleeves. That truck would have the full floating 14 bolt axle. The wheel bearings are in the drum. The outer race presses into the drum(i think) and the inner race part ofthe bearing. The bearings line up and slide onto the spindle. They are tapered roller...

    Trans ID Help?

SM stands for Synchro-Mesh. You can have my 3.08s any day. I'd settle for 3.42s and 33" tires. right now, with no overdrive, the engine runs ~2,000 rpm at 60 mph. Not bad, right in the power band, which i don't mind. BUt it's getting there that's almost painful. I can't even wind the...

    Trans ID Help?

Looks like a SM465 Muncie to me. Have one in my K-5 after i did my conversion. Just be careful they don't look it due to it's small size, but they are heavy. ~175 lbs. Talk about "shit your spine" heavy if your not expecting it. Here's some really good info on them...

    Hummer Fan clutch setup

As far as making the setup automatic coudl you use a hayden electric fan control with the adjustable "kick on" temperature setup? It's a probe that goes into the fins of the rad. HIt the set temp, fan kicks on. Drops below set temp, fan kicks off. The hayden controllers are designed to...

How do I tell which transmission I have....700 or 400?

    If your truck has overdrive it's a 700R4. The TH400 was a 3 speed, so there's no overdrive. The shifter display in the gauge cluster would read "P R N OD D 2 1" for a 700R4 and "P R N D 2 1" for a Th400.

    I just got a 1993 for free

He'd have to get a 6.2 specific flywheel. The ring gear/starter drive gear count is different than a gasser. Also the 6.2/6.5 is externally balanced(flywheel has sa weight on it that's 180* apart from the weight on the crank balancer). I know the 350 is internally balanced, not sure on the...

    Need some input....

Louis, The old LSD was 500 ppm maximum. The really old regular "diesel" i don't think really had a PPM limit. Either that or i'm too young to remember. Hell i was 3 when the 1980s ended, unfortunately. My K-5 is older than i am. :hihi:

    Need some input....

Hunting and large surges in RPM would tell me the fuel solenoid armature in the IP is shot/busted. The real give away is the engine racing up real high when you barely touched the throttle. When the fuel solenoid armature breaks you basically end up with 2 throttle positions, idle and...

Towing long and heavy with a 6.5? Read on

I've got plenty of sets of injectors laying around, but judging by Barry's ever growing sig i don't think he needs more work. :hihi: Although if i had the space and the funds i think Barry would have competition on the east coast. :D

Towing long and heavy with a 6.5? Read on

I"ve got Bosch India injectors in the K-5, and every so often i'll get a big black puff of soot under hard accel like an injector isn't spraying right. If i whack the throttle a few times it'll clear up, but it still bugs me since i know what a bad injector can and will do. I've got a set of...

Towing long and heavy with a 6.5? Read on

I'm sorry but i agree with Kenny. Poor quality injectors probably ended that motors life. A new piston might have fixed it if one was avaliable. I wouldn't spend $7K on an engine for either truck, if i even had the money to spend in the first place. That's coming from a guy who will not part...

    210 hot or NOT?

Ditto on the offer. Right now i'm doing a Saginaw 4-spd swap on my father's 1971 Camaro in place of the TH350, so i'll be busy with that for a bit but once that's done i should be all set save for my normal job. Just one thing. It'll be BYOB if you want anything. I'm not a drinker. I have...

    The K-5 and forced induction

It certainly doesn't sound weak. Whistles like mad, and the whistle picks right up with engine RPM. When cruising down the road it's not pumping soot so i knwo the turbo is doing something. It may not be making boost, but remember boost is just pressure against closed intake valves. It's not...

    The K-5 and forced induction

Had the K-5 out today to work and back. 30 miles round trip. The only thing i don't understand is that it barely builds any boost, save for hills, then i can hit maybe 3.5 psi tops. At the same time i'm not beating the piss out of it. Highest i saw was about 700*F pre-turbo EGTs today...
