I've had pretty good luck with the Gates belts on there now. They are special order now from the place i get them from. Can't remember the series, but if you want a set for the CUCV let me know.
oh ya. Which is why i haven't gone with a slip yoke eliminator, and probably never will, unless i put a NP205 in. Then i'd just have the driveshafts re-built to fit.
Yea it's common. My K-5s is leaking there too. There's a press in "plate" at the back of the yoke. The pressure of the yoke moving in and out can cause that plate to leak.
I tried everything with mine. Silicone didn't work. I had the plate removed, re-pressed in and tac welded in place...
*shrugs* Dunno Kenny. That filter looks to small to me. An Amsoil nano-fiber filter like the one in my 96 takes up every bit of that airbox, and doesn't require oiling either. I'm acutally going to order one of their "universal" cone filters for the K-5 at some point.
I don't know. That one in the pictures look very similar to mine.
The trans bolts to the aluminum bellhousing with 4 3/4" head bolts(1/2-13 thread IIRC). The shifter tower might be too far back now that i look at your pictures again.
Damn, would be nice to put a NV4500 in the K-5, just to...
OK sounds good. I just want a backup plan in case this stupid motor goes tits up after i fixed that damn lifter retainer. Considering that big chunk not in the picture is still missing i have a feeling i'm not finished fighting this issue yet.
This is true. I just like their warranty. It's basically a guarantee that you aren't getting a pile of shit.
Curious what they'd want anyways. If your up there again and the truck is still there could ya ask for me?
I'd use the engine in my shed, but it needs to be gone through completely...
Kenny thats the old NV4500 in the pics?
That thing looks like it would literally fit right in place of where my SM465 fits. Looks to be almost the same size.
Do me a favor(when you can) and take some measurements of the length of the case(where it bolts to the bellhousing to the tail) and the...
The missing piece may have gotten ground up or it busted into many small pieces. It's not in the head, and it wasn't in the pan either, but since i was doing very frequent oil changes(every 500 miles and a can a seafoam) to try and fix what i thought was a ticking sticky lifter i may have...
I'm thinking failure in the casting of the piece. Looks like there is either a stress crack or a nice gouge across the top that could've only been made when the piece was forged. Perhaps contamination in the mold for that piece.
I don't think the lifter spun in the bore but i'm honestly not...
How in the hell does this happen?
This retainer came from the second pair of lifters(front of the engine being the first set) on the passenger side.
The third lifter(pictured above) has had no retainer around it for close to 2 years now.
Guess i found my ticking.
The first 2...
I"ll agree with ya there. The late 70s A6 i've got in my blazer looks to be all original and i'll get some pretty cold air from the vents. I'm sure that compressor is tired after 30+ years though. I have another one here somewheres if this one goes belly up on me.
The high side pressure switch will keep the system out as long as the pressure is above the switch rating. Shouldn't be long. The second the compressor stops spinning the pressure is going to drop, since one side is lower in pressure than the other. The pressure is going to naturally bleed off...
Kenny check your battery connections for the random clicking.
My K-5 does it sometimes. It's the damn connections on the sidepost batteries. My custom built cables don't help as they are heavy. If i didn't have to replace the batteries in the pickup(can hear one start to boil when i try...
