This is a "Chick Magnet" Amphib!

I Want One ! ! ! Another video of the Python. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ15AuiqKgs Here is another one of their models. This one is a kit for $29,500. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDmMCiWZoTc It would be PRICELESS to watch people's faces at the boat ramp as you decide to go...

    12/20/09 Seat belts,who uses them?

Wow! That's interesting. I have never experienced that, but I'm sure I don't drive on washboard roads anywhere near as much as you have to. Older vehicles had a comfort feature that allowed you to correctly position the belt and then pull out slightly to release the constant tension. This...

GM Puts New Truck Diesel Engine Program on Indefinite Hold Status

I agree, Jim. Every time someone decides to blow smoke at the guy behind them they are giving the enviro-wackos more ammunition to ban diesels. They think it's funny, but they won't think it's so funny when the EPA bans all older diesel vehicles. Mark my word, this is coming. BTW, I...

    12/20/09 Seat belts,who uses them?

I bet you pull the seatbelt all the way out while you are buckling up. Modern seatbelts have a comfort feature that allows the belt to move with you while you move around with the belt on. If there is an instance of sudden deceleration, the reel mechanism will lock up. However, pulling the...

    12/20/09 Seat belts,who uses them?

Same with me. If you don't buckle up in my vehicle, you walk, I have been using seatbelts since I got my first car in high school. I had bought an old 1959 VW and it didn't have any seatbelts. One day, I was driving my girlfriend home. She was in the passenger seat holding her school books...

How to Change a VW Generator Belt in 5 Seconds

Now THAT's totally CRAZY! WARNING: This "stunt" is being performed by a "Darwin Award" contestant - Looks like Kelso, the originator of this procedure already got HIS Darwin Award. :rolleyes5: Do NOT try this at home yourself! :nono: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQhfcdQf1QA

    Fords new diesel

If I can ever afford to buy another new diesel truck, it will very likely be a Ford. It's interesting that a year ago, that phrase would have been blasphemy coming out of my mouth. (I have never in my life owned a Ford product - I have been GM all my life, until recently) -- However, I refuse...

Which oil do you guys recommend

I didn't know that Mobil sold the Turbo Diesel Truck oil in 5 qt jugs. We have both Auto Zone and Advanced Auto in town, so I will have to check them out.

Which oil do you guys recommend

I had been using Shell's Synthetic Rotella-T 5W-40 diesel oil for the first 40,000 miles, but the last two oil changes I switched to Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck. I found it at wallyworld for $22/gallon.

    General Maintenance day

The oil filter location on the Duramax isn't much better. You will get black engine oil on the front driveshaft and U-Joint unless you cover them up, and they will then sling that black oil on your garage floor and driveway when you drive away. I take a piece of aluminum foil and cover the...

    Check your tire pressure!

Just make sure you check your tire pressures at least once a month and you should be fine. :) On trips I try to check it daily (In the morning) and every time I get back in the truck after a fuel or pit stop, I do a quick walk around and visually check the tires.

11/1/09 What do you think of the new look

So far everything seems to be working OK for me, but I think the home page needs a little color. I think it is too dreary now; makes me think of the Adams Family home on Halloween. And even they had some color (orange). :) You may also want to narrow down the logo a little (Bring the DTR and...

I'm here! So far, other than the name change, everything seems pretty much the same. Good job guys ! ! !

    Check your tire pressure!

Atmospheric air contains 78% Nitrogen. ):h The only times I have seen where filling the tires with nitrogen might be of "some" help would be race cars and aircrafts. Still even those, cannot fill their tires with 100% nitrogen unless they suck a huge vacuum to evacuate all the air inside the...

    Check your tire pressure!

Yeap! I run 78% Nitrogen in my tires year 'round. :smile5:

    Spare fuel tank question

That's all right! That correction just saved you $100 on one fill-up. Not bad! ):h

    Spare fuel tank question

I have never been able to understand this line of logic. Actually, around here, diesel fuel is selling for $2.64 so 100 gallons would cost $264 But so what if the tank holds 100 gallons? You'll STILL have to pay that much for 100 gallons of fuel no matter if you buy it in one...

(09/24/09) Do you use a GPS in your truck?

One great thing about having a GPS is that most truck stops now a days list their GPS coordinates for their location. This makes it a cinch to plan your routes along with your fuel stops, etc.

(09/24/09) Do you use a GPS in your truck?

I've been using a GPS unit for long distance travel since Dec 1999. I cut my teeth using GPS when I got a Magellan GPS-315 for Christmas. The GPS-315 unit is a very basic, battery operated unit designed mainly for backpackers, boaters and such. You can get an auxiliary vehicle mount and 12...
