Welcome to the site, good luck, enjoy the project and above all else, have fun.
Budget has everything to do with a project.
Some members here are really good about suggesting courses of action that they don't have to pay for. My guess is that ak diesel driver just desired to keep things real...
Glad to host you for a change. Sure is a happy truck and don’t we all have “just a couple of things” on the punch list?
Good to hear you’re safely in MT. Enjoy the time together with the spousal unit.
RE: Emblem on front fender…
Air Vent louvre for the fenders from Run Cool. Used to have hood louvres too but, that hood died from a lack of common sense. After a paint job, I’ll put them back on the replacement hood.
BigT and I used our trucks for a great photo op at the end of a short GTG at my place.
He’s north bound to the homestead in MT now.
Happy Father’s Day all.
Pure Flow Air Dog makes the Raptor pumps (technically AirDog Raptor) as well as the ‘AirDogII’ units.
AirDogII’s are “Flow on Fail” as are OEM lift pumps (been there, done that unfortunately). From what I’ve read, the Raptors are not. Can’t speak for FASS.
Raptor Pumps do not have their own...
When I busted the mounts on my first front differential (long story, don't ask) I took it to a Semi Truck Trailer Repair facility and they welded it back up. Cost about $150 though. Most likely because of the joy Will L. just described. Pity. I have another F lower that got an ear busted off...
With the door panel removed, now is a good time to go over the locking rods while you access inside the door. Get the gack off where it’s accumulated in the guides using solvents and steel wool/abrasive pads then, relubricate with silicone. Should help with the power locks you had mentioned...
I ordered a replacement OBD2 connector off the Vetronix web page. https://www.vetronix.com/ currently $18 plus shipping.
You may need to call or email them as I just did a search on their page and, foot in mouth/keyboard, didn't see the OBD1. [email protected]
Loaded up the truck with a few things to head down to El Mirage for the first 2025 SCTA land speed racing event.
Clothing and other spares along with recovery tools were in the cab.
I don't have the engine details or I'd post more details in the 'Other Diesels' forum but, the LSR I crew chief...
Laugh it up brothers, one year of not spending $5 bills received in change.
Paid for a pistol Springfield 1911, Winchester 44-40 rifle and weekend at the Drag Races in Vegas.
Along with the leaks from the Xfer case’s tail shaft and front differential output shaft seals, I discovered an inordinate amount of leakage from what seems to be either the Power Steering Pump, its lines or the steering gear. I added a little UV dye to the fluid, degreased and sprayed brake...
Having sorted out the leaking front differentials leaking, I finally took the opportunity to conduct a test drive. Truck follows the road crown a little but, now it’s equal. No more pulling hard right. Heat gun indicates both rotors are the same temperature after a five mile drive so, I’m...
Looked under the truck this morning and noticed a puddle of fresh gear oil from the front differential. Trying not to panic or lose my cool I crawled under to do so inspection. There wasn't anything coming from the new seal but there was a drip forming at the drain plug. Guess I should have...
Finally! Success as I got the output shaft removed this morning.
Using a ball peen I whacked it inwards a few times while rotating the shaft. Just trying to tap tap tapping outwards afterwards didn’t work so I a got a lot more “energetic” and, as the old Scotsman beach master said in 'Longest...
@Big T suggested instead of tapping/bashing outwards from the onset, I should give it a smack or two inwards. Right after that suggestion I saw a video on removing a stuck output shaft about doing the same. Painful narration aside, he succeeded by tapping it inwards, rotate 90* and rinse and...
Ribs have been feeling better so yesterday I got the brake calipers replaced. Assembled tools and rachet straps etc. to go after that persnickety output shaft.
Tried the technique in this video first (starts about the 1:04 min mark) to no avail.
Regardless of rotation, angle, effort of...
