You will also have to decide on the size of your water tank and how big a space you may want to take up. How much boost you have will decide on how much water you use. I have a 32 gallon tank, 10x12x63, and when at crusing speeds I use about 1 gallon of water to 1 gallon of diesel.

Would of been good to of met up with you on the trip also. Then Limey could of been in the front seat for a while!!
I had a trip planned and was on a time schedule. Didn't have a lot of time to look at holes in the ground! Saw it and it wasn't going to change any, time to go! Put er in the...
The engine, the the photo, has been in a 6.5 shipping box/crate since 1993. The engine build date is 9-7-82 and a 660 block. The original owner had an 1982 Chev pickup but not enough power to pull a 2 horse horse trailer. Story I got was at less than 40,000 miles the old guy liked his truck but...
I don't know if any of these other people on here have been for a ride in Joe's pickup, but I have and it does pull real hard. The new computer program with the HP3 cam will set you back in the seat and hold you there. Joe's pickup still has the stock air filter too, no CAI! The throttle...
Bill took his red truck out and kept reaching to release the parking brake. He had been driving Joe's green truck and thought the brake must be one becuse it just wasn't doing what he wanted. He will be changing cams in the red truck in a short while. He can't stand his son having a faster truck...
I will try to help a little with these new camshafts. They have been going out of the shop about 1 a day now.
Joe's pickup, with Bill's HP3 camshaft, runs real well, I should say real real well.
Bill has a dyno, it just isn't setup yet. A lot of time consuming work is needed to get it...
I have the Heath 4 inch exhaust but I have always likes dual exhaust, a single looks lop sided. At the back of the muffler I took the 4 inch tail pipe off. I then took the 4 inch muffler off. I had ordered a 4 inch 'Y' pipe. I had an exhaust shop weld the 'Y' pipe on the back of the muffler and...
With the 225/75 I first had on the 19.5 wheels the mileage did go up.
BUT, I had too much wheel well showing and decided to get the 265 tires. Then the mileage went down. Too much rolling weight. Then I added a bunch of mileage maker stuff and it went back up. WMI and Propane.
The A833 trans is a very strong trans. 440 and 426 Mopar had this trans behind those monsters.
Ford and GM used this trans with the overdrive part. With the 6 in it, it easily goes over 35 in 1st, over 60 in 2nd, and in the 90 range in 3rd. 3rd is in the 3rd gear place and OD is in 4th...
I also have an 84 1 ton dually, 4x4, service box, 4:56 gearing, 4 speed trans, and Banks Turbo.
No Turbo on this one, maybe. But I will be adding ARP head studs and the new Heath 6.2 N/A camshaft just incase I change my mind.
Isn't this where somebody breaks in and says "shut up Limey!" ?
I had better reply to this one.
'How you doing back there Limey,' was the usual question and a "Who cares?", was my reply before he could even say how he was! But I was kind to him, I let him ride inside the truck. Except...
GM heat pump. Hmmm...... I had a GM8 on that engine and it did push over 23 pounds of boost pressure. Had an ATT also later and really liked it even more, it too would generate a ton of boost! But the area I lived in didn't have a speed zone above 60 for miles in either direction so I went back...
In the past articles I had read, early 6.2 owners were saying 31 on the highway and high 20's in town, with this gearing and same trans, I could live with that kind of mileage.
Stock 205 75 x15 tires. The pickup has power steering. I will remove the front clip for the engine swap and put a...
Rear gears are 3:08. The A833 trans is a factory looking 4 speed but really a 3 speed with overdrive. 1st is 3:07, 2nd is 1:67, 3rd is 1-1 and OD is .73
After lots of reading and thoughts of doing an engine swap I got the parts. In a few months I will remove the 250 in line 6 from my 81 2 wheel drive short box and replace it with a 6.2. Rebuild the A833 trans in the process and have a good driver that will get good mileage.
Thanks to Missy...
I believe I will be stuck with this beast for a while longer! A Todd rebuilt 6.2 with 6.5 heads and Bill's towing cam will work just fine. Still use the WMI and Propane.
Hopefully the 6.2 engine swap to the 81 should go well.
