    635 Rebuild cont.

Yes I remember that big motorhome! You were right in there too! You are a good man "Charlie Brown"! I would of liked to of tried that motorhome buried in the muck at the Salf Flats, but they had a big tow truck coming.

    635 Rebuild cont.

I told Paul this thread was his engine thread but he put my episode in here so I thought I would tell the story. The story of me pulling a loaded semi is true. Had to use 4 wheel drive in low range. But it wasn't for 2 miles, just a little over 1 1/2 miles with a slight uphill grade, until I...

    635 Rebuild cont.

Sure, I'll do all the hard work. Hauling that big heavy engine all the way to your place. Then a nice soft easy chair to watch you and OrionThade do the easy work, remove and replace the engine! Then, after a few break in miles, a trip back to Ellensburg for a good tune.

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

I am going to have to blame Limey for turning this thread into a military vehicle thread! It isn't his fault but I will blame him anyway! Even short comments are still at the wrong place. Can't help it guys, this was supposed to be a post about the rebuild of Paul's engine and the end of my...

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

The reason for the pistons being a problem to far out of the block is because of the intake lobe on the performance camshaft. Not saying what the specifications are on the camshaft but the piston is too close to the intake valve. The block was decked another .010 because the surface was too...

And it is good thing you covered all those openings, Paul, or I would of had to take away your birthday!

I do know Heath has a new cam for the NA 6.2. I will be adding one to my NA 6.2 going in my 81 Chev 1/2 short box 2wd. You will not get much use from propane, without a turbo. Or you will have to use a manual control valve to adjust the propane flow. Propane systems work best with boost...

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

I just mentioned MaxxTorque to have the pictures of the parts shown. The GM8 turbo was taken apart, to be rebuilt, and just the housing was honed. I don't really know if having that part done did any good with the air pressure being so intense at the start but I don't believe it could hurt it...

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

GW In the write up, in MaxxTorque, the engine builder posted pictures of the upper and lower intake manifold, the exhaust manifold, and the turbo charger. All these items had been extruded-honed. The cost of those items, along with the Peninsular upper intake, getting the extrude-hone process...

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

I am sure people on this site will come up with a better idea about the head work with of their expert knowledge of intake and exhaust flow capabilities because the wrong valves were used! Probably say the pistons are not the right ones to use, the coating is all wrong either too much or too...

    Engine dressing

Paveltoz has requested some wierd color on his engine being built, but I can't remember exactly what color he said. So I will just "brush" on some Cat Yellow and Detroit Diesel Green real thick!

Would it have anything to do with cold October air about 4,200 feet elevation?

How many hours for a 6.5L Turbo injector replacement? What needs taken out?

You have the correct socket for the job perfect. An incorrect socket can and will bend in fuel nipples. Drivers side can be done is about 10 minutes total, 4 rubber fuel lines, 4 injectors hard lines, and then the 4 injectors. The little nipple clamp on the end injector takes a little...

Fun with Ted, Todd, Bill and Paul…Resurrecting an Ultimate Rebuild.

Husker, that isn't 6.5, it is just a little 6.2 30 over. And even at a thousand plus miles the engine won't be broke in enough for hard pulls. But it isn't my engine any more, it is Paul's and if he wants to hit the rollers it will be up to him. I would wait for at least 6K before really running...

what is your preferred timing chain? do you think gears are OK for 6.5L?

I can tell you a certain engine builder uses stock GM timing chain and gears. And his truck has gone 163mph at Bonneville. And not new ones either!

    250-6 to 6.2

Well that's good because all 3 of the flywheels are just that, single not dual. Handcannon, if you can't find a flywheel let me know.

    250-6 to 6.2

Landmine, the weight of the flywheels is new to me! All 3 of my flywheels came off 6.2's with 465 transmission. I'll check the casting numbers out next week.Seeing as how I am just gathering parts wouldn't just getting the right pressure plate to work with the A833 and 1 of the flywheels work...

    250-6 to 6.2

From what I have been told and by looking at the different bellhousing, the housing on the 250-6 will bolt up to any V8. I haven't tried the fit yet because I am still driving it, but I did buy a specific housing for the A833 because they have different mounting holes than a 465. But this...

    250-6 to 6.2

The A833 trans does have a fairly low first gear but not for even the slightest of uphill grades with the 3:08's. I am quite sure the 3:42 gearing will make a noticable difference, especially on take off.

    250-6 to 6.2

A rear gear change is in now in order for my engine swap project. A guy, south of Seattle, had a complete 12 bolt 3:42 posi rear housing from an early 80's GM 1/2 ton, 5 on 5 bolt pattern, for $400. I bought it! 3:08's are really neat gears except for trying to take off on a hill, lot of...
