Not sure what you’re getting at. It looks like flashing is present on the hole to the right and to the left the backing plate is misaligned. If that’s the case, I would grind the flashing off on the right and grind the plate on the left. Before I’d do any of that, I’d pull all the bolts to see...
That side cap readily came off. The whole this is a POS. I threw it in my GM Turbo crash kit bin which has all my OEM parts for restoring in case I had to pass Smog test somewhere.

CKO can with ProVent filter. It was not allowing the blowby to exit to the turbo boot. Had nothing to do with the filter element and everything to do the with the pos CKO can. Never did strain enough oil for it to push past the check valve. Only small dribble made it to the check valve. Instead...
Pulled the ProVent catch can off the ‘94. Pressure washed all the leak areas, then drove it around. It appears the leaks have stopped. Sigh, relief. That was a wasted project.
I tested the check valve again. It was in the right direction and working properly.
