Unburnt fuel smoking and will not pull itself

"UPDATE" I found that teflon tape is NOT something to use on your fuel lines! My IP sucked in some teflon from a 3/8 fitting that I had installed. The tape got into the pump causing the valve to stick in the open position.

Unburnt fuel smoking and will not pull itself

Compression test buried my 300PSI gauge on every cylinder. Tomorrow I will pull the intake, fuel lines, and valve covers to see if the rocker retainers have broken & allowed the rockers to slip out of place. Hopefully this will be the problem.

Unburnt fuel smoking and will not pull itself

I guess the really odd thing with mine is that it happened all at once. It's not something that started off smoking lightly and slowly losing power! But it happened within 3 miles of my house when leaving for work on Wednesday.

Unburnt fuel smoking and will not pull itself

I forgot to mention that while the truck is running there is NO air in my line. I installed a clear line to keep an eye on it. After the truck sits for over 4 hours or more is when I see the air. I bypassed the LP and it will not force the air out until I crank it over twice. 10 second cranks is...

Unburnt fuel smoking and will not pull itself

More problems, I was driving yesterday and my truck lost ALL power and is smoking heavily. This is a whitish smoke and smells like raw fuel. I just filled up my tank and added one small bottle of lucas additive. My guess is an injector or two are sticking open or maybe a push rod has slipped off...

    6.2 & 6.5 Help finder

I have a garage and every tool needed, except a scanner, to do any repairs. Torches, welders, air compressor, and 2 snap on tool boxes full of tools. I'm in northern Kentucky and will give you my number thru a PM or email if you need my assistance. I do not have a pop tester or any way to set...

    Howdy folks from Kentucky!

It is a gas conversion and I snagged the 6.5 turbo and 4L80E from a 93 1 ton 4x4. And hello backatcha neighbor.. lol Thanks all, I find this to be a pretty good forum and I discovered after many years that I actuall love to read! I spend a lot of time reading up on lots of different things.

    Flywheel & convertor cover

Thanks everyone, I will put in back on in the near future. I really just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have any problems with the tranny running hot but it seems I'll be fine for some time.

    Flywheel & convertor cover

I was just curious if and or how important would it be to use or not to use the cover that is placed to cover the flywheel on an automatic tranny? My concerns are the crossover tube creating enough heat to raise the transmission temperature. I'd like to run my truck for a little bit to see what...

Flywheel replacement starter not meshing properly/ hard starts hot.

FUN I started pulling things from the bottom side first & was wondering how to get the torque convertor bolts out but as I started to turn the crank, it spun! The motor was free as a bird and I have no idea what is going on. Do you have any ideas? I have stopped tearing this thing apart for...

Flywheel replacement starter not meshing properly/ hard starts hot.

I'm pulling my motor this evening but I may have discovered what happened to my locked up motor. The "oil cooler" lines were plugged off! I have read that these are pretty darn important and you risk breaking the crank due to lack of oil. It was plugged off when I bought the truck but I...

    Hungry IP Feed it!

I seen the pics but they don't show the mechanical pump. If the mod is done and nothing is done to my mechanical IP then it will still have a 1/4" tunnel to travel thru. I don't have access to a 7.3 nose cone but I reckon that I can easily pull my nose and drill it. To the best of my knowledge...

Turn up the IP for turbo or not?

I take that back on the precups. I see that the square ones are used for NA following this link. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?11778-6.2-6.5-precups&highlight=precup

Turn up the IP for turbo or not?

Thanks for your response WarWagon. I'm not planning on adding boost or anything for a while. If & when I ever do I'll install head & crank studs and pretty much go all out to do it right. The NA motor is a 98 GoodWrench 506 casting and the precups look like the larger ones for a turbo motor. I...

Turn up the IP for turbo or not?

It is a mechanical pump from a 95 P30 chassis, sorry I wasn't clear on that.
