Thanks, but my dump bed is made for 3500 or 4500 series trucks. This is too much truck for me. The truck I have is long enough for a 12' bed, that's why I'm trying to upgrade it to make it easier for me to drive.
I need a truck to mount my 12 foot dump body on... they're pretty hard to find. I also I want the oomph of a diesel... I have a 6.5 TD in my 96 K2500-- with some bolt on mods it's making about 30 hp more than stock and gets 18 mpg on the road. The 6.2/6.5s are bolt on to other GM transmission...
Thanks for your information.
The 84-87 square body is the only ones that will work and bolt in. My truck is essentially a square body but a 1988 model 1 ton. All the ones I saw on eBay from the previous post are non-tilt.
I'll look into swapping an upper tilt column into it.
The other...
GM 1\2 and 3\4 ton trucks changed to the Old Body Style (OBS) in 1988. Suburbans, Blazers and 1 tons didn't change until a few years later and don't use the same steering column. My truck is a 1988 R3500 1 ton.
The steering wheel and upper column are the same, but the 88 to 94 have a welded on...
Along with replacing the seat on my 1988 R3500 1 ton Square Body, I want to upgrade the steering column from straight, floor shift to a tilt with column shift.
My immediate need is to be able to get into the truck and drive without my gut rubbing the steering wheel. The second need is to have...
I just bought a 1988 R3500 Dually. With 350 engine and 4 speed manual tranny. This is the square body style. I want to put in a tilt wheel steering column as the current wheel cuts into my gut when I'm in the truck. (I'm 6'0 and 305 lbs). I also want to replace the seat as it has a large divot...
It was a GOOD day. I drove the truck to Murray and back and it was like a whole new machine.
A big thank you to Paveltolz for his help, plus he provided lunch... what a guy!!!
Also a big thank you to others in the forum for their advice and support.
Now I just need to get a turbo, then get...
Thanks again for your help!! I'm still shaking my head that the mechanic I had do the work (who claimed to have worked on lots of 6.5s) would torque the bolts down so much, then, to add insult to injury Permatexed the gaskets...
I did tighten down the nut on the Turbmaster a little to where I...
Thanks for the information Will. I'm not sure how to tell, though I can get the data, etc. It's on a Cummins engine, I'm thinking it's a 6B inline six from a piece of construction equipment. Has individual valve covers like the 12 valve 5.9 used in trucks, but doesn't quite look the same...
So "Pavel" and I got together today to work on the truck. It was slow-going as the previous mechanic that worked on it had really wrenched down on the IP mounting bolts. Pavel finally was able to get to them after I bought a set of wrap around wrenches from HF--he also had to remove the upper...
So I'm wanting to upgrade my turbo, probably an HX35 or HX40. I see them for sale online but don't want to buy something that isn't configured properly. What should I look for as to specs?
I've already got a used ECM to get reprogrammed, so I need to find a turbo before I program it.
Regards...
Yes, it's between the tank and the Raptor pump. I got both the Raptor pump and prefilter through Leroy diesel. You'll also get a length of 1/2" ID fuel hose and an adapter to hook it to the sending unit of the tank. I'd recommend replacing the sending unit when you do this as you'll want to...
