    Update on Plews-Edelmann steering box

I bought the 3000 from RA in 2022. It's only a little more now than what I paid for it. I think it was significantly cheaper at RA then, too. But the pump was relatively new to the market at the time and there was some confusion about which part number was correct for the 2500. The 3000 is the...

    Update on Plews-Edelmann steering box

I installed a Plews-Edelmann steering box a couple of years ago to replace the sloppy and leaking factory unit. I've put somewhere around 10k mi on this box since installing and @ak diesel driver had some questions, so I thought I'd write up a quick post. The box itself has performed well for...

Steering issue with new Plews Edelmann box

Let us know how that goes. There's more slop in mine than I expected with a new box - I assume it's mostly from the rag joint but still need to test that.

Steering issue with new Plews Edelmann box

Got it. I see my error. I was thinking about this as if the stops were internal to the box. Thanks guys. I'll get it to the shop this week.

Steering issue with new Plews Edelmann box

Thanks. I'm probably over-thinking this, but it does seem like I'll lose steering throw by centering this way, as the "centered" shaft will no longer by center of travel on the box, right?

Steering issue with new Plews Edelmann box

I previously posted about a hydro-boost question related to replacing my stock Saginaw steering box with a Plews-Edlemann 3000. I'm running into another issue on this steering box replacement. This Plews-Edelmann is a quick-ratio box; 2.75 lock-to-lock. With wheels straight, the steering wheel...

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

The box did come pre-centered and I do have to re-center the wheel. Hopefully, I'll finish that this weekend.

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

Thanks, I think you're right on vapor-lock between pump and hydro boost. Reservoir was full so I don't think any harm was done. I finally got it well flushed after reconnecting all lines and lifting the front to work the box through full travel. It took longer than anticipated, and a lot of...

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

Well, let me retract that statement on the ratio until I finish connecting everything. Quite possible I made an error in assuming it came pre-centered.

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

For sure. I'll let you all know how it goes. It's a different ratio than my stock Saginaw so I'll have to pull the steering wheel and re-center. That's the only thing I have to report right now.

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

I haven't reconnected the lines to the steering box. I was hoping to flush first and then reconnect, to keep any crud out of the new box. It's entirely possible the pump has failed, but it was working right up until I took the old box off, so probability seems low.

Confused by power steering/hydro boost system

I just replaced my steering box with a Plews-Edelmann. I wanted to go ahead and flush while I have the hoses off, thinking I'd get out the old fluid before connecting the box, so I don't flood it with any debris. I filled the reservoir and started the truck with gearbox supply and return hoses...

Need some insight installing a rear wiper motor assembly

I was able to take the housing off and remove the bushing/stud assembly from the plastic mounting plate. I've included pictures below. The flange nut is machined to take a 7mm wrench at the base and is supposed to be held in place by a rectangular ABS collar on the mounting plate. The black cap...

Need some insight installing a rear wiper motor assembly

I had to replace the rear window in my Suburban. It was due, as the defrost was pretty much T/U, but I hastened its demise last weekend by smashing it with a rock so I could get into the locked truck after a backcountry canoe trip. Now I'm re-installing the rear wiper motor assembly and I...

Problem installing Heath Turbo Master on GM4

Ah. Well, that won't work. I'll just wait till the boost gauge is in, then.
