Max towable load for a Suburban K1500

Upon further investigation, I have a GU6 & G80 RPO code which indicates a 3.42 & Positraction limited slip rear .. The trailer hitch is rated at 5000 lbs, but it seems to have a class 4 receiver which should be good for 10,000 lbs and 12,000 with load levelers.. How efficient is the stock...

Max towable load for a Suburban K1500

With my latest thread starter " Operating costs" I might be persuaded to convert the Burban to hauling duties. However the rated max load is 5000 lbs, and I would need to haul approx. 6000 lbs to 6500 lbs. So what should I plan on modifying to meet expected tow weight of 6500 lbs ?

    Operating costs

Well I do have a 2003 VW TDI which gets great fuel mileage. I bought the Burban to help out my son, and fell in love with the monster. Once you get comfy in that truck you do not want to drive anything else. I did need a hauler for my offroader which is a 1975 Range rover, so I will try and...

    Operating costs

I love my Burban, but as of late, I am paying about 1.40 per liter in Montreal, or 5.60 per US gallon or 33 cents per mile in any case no matter how you crunch the numbers its alot of coin per driven mile. In my area (Montreal) the veg producers have cornered the market. They have a quasi...

Burbanitis A momentary lapse of sanity

I can tell you that being in a colder climate, the amount of road salt that is being thrown underneath the truck is un-believable. I have found that with a little bit of care like rustproofing and keeping the truck clean goes a long way in helping it to fight rust.

    Shudders when blipped

The PMD was remote located , the IP is original. The Burb is a 97 with about 160k miles (250k kilometers) . Though I did not have the shudder before the PMD was changed.

    Shudders when blipped

Now that I am not sure of. When I bought the Burb in Dec, I assumed the injectors where fine, since it was not belching out any black smoke. I was planning on getting some Heath upgrades this spring, ECU, turbo back exhaust, cross pipe, additional gauges, I guess I should include a set of...
