I'm near Lakeland, FL, have GMTDScan tech, have access to Alldata, a lift and $30,000+ in tools, can set timing and have learned quite a bit about these beasts. I'm a Network Engineer by day, computers don't scare me one bit.
One of my favorite things to do is help someone out.
I wasn't self censoring...I agree the word filter is dumb...I almost wonder if they did it just to be funny? It was more a fill-in-the blank as the war threads have been vs several different models, both cko and genuine holset. _____ = fill in the blank. I'll leave it at that I don't want to...
Tuning is a huge part of it...even more so with these IDI engines I think.
I may solicit some assistance soon, I'd like to get set up emulating like Mr. Shady. Nothing can beat making changes on the fly and immediately observing the differences.
I'm a neutral party, but since this has been turned into an ATT vs ___ thread also...your logic fails as the ____ side is not selling anything. They claim a tune is not needed to get benefits, and advocate buying the _____ from random sellers on fleabay.
If they do have an agenda it's personal...
Many thanks to you for this...me stumbling across your page eventually led me to purchase a 6.5. I'm sure most of the current 6.5 tuning owes at least some gratitude to you.:bow:
It was leaking fuel...had a pool around it that's how I spotted it. LP was making 6psi at WOT but the needle bounced quite a bit at idle. I think the gauge was leaking too. Fishbites went away once I removed the tee for the gauge and tightened the clamp.
Would you be willing to post some of your disassembled information? I have some assembly experience and would be interested in looking through what you have.
I think there should be a way to modify the programming itself, not just tweaking the tables to get the maximum fuel out of the pump...
I have no clue about HP gains...that's not really my goal so I haven't been paying attention to the numbers claimed by each modification. From what I read on the forums(fwiw) It seems about 250 rwhp is towards the top end of what these engines can reliably make without serious internal...
Go with a switchable one...I have one and wouldn't have it any other way. Quite nice to be able to drive a well mannered fuel efficient vehicle, then at the flick of the switch let loose the dragon..whether for towing or just to show off. It's by far the best option for a multi-use vehicle. The...
Slim - I think there would be a slight pressure spike, similar to water hammer when you shut off a faucet quickly, though not nearly as violent since air compresses much better than water. To consider all variables I think would likely need a mathematical model running on a supercomputer...
Ok. Buddy and Dylly are correct.
I'm not a turbo expert but I do understand the basic laws of physics and the principals of fluids under pressure, the work required to move them, and what happens to them when you perform work on them.
Take 2 tanks of an equal volume...say 0.5 cubic ft...
Not sure if anyone in the 6.5 community has tried it yet, but if you're wanting to experiment, there are several 27cXXX emulators floating around(romulator, etc...) that will allow you to change things on-the-fly. I know some of the honda ECMs use the same chip and they use the emulators along...
Although I don't know what/where the errors are, a good source of information informed me some of those definition files have a few errors in them. Some of the parameters are a bit ambiguous too, such as the post-glow minimum on time. Looks like there's two of them, one at 4DB4, the other at...
