I used to switch back and forth between the two, but the last few years decided just to use the 5W-40 Mobil 1. Towed a fifth wheel in the summer and all was fine. As others have stated, you can go to 10K easily with synthetics, but as recommended a UOA would give you a better peace of mind.
When they first came out, I went online to check out the stock market and saw they only had 2 employees I knew they were fake. But God forbid you post that on some sites, you were reemed out and given a new a$$hole.
Last year, when I had a buddy in Iraq and could reach him easily thru facebook, I got hit with about 20 people asking me to join their site. My buddy didn't know any of them, so I wouldn't respond and let them in to my site.
If you have no problems with them, then IMO I would leave them alone. I put off doing my belt since I thought it would be a real pain, but turned out to be a 10 minute job with my 12 year old son under the truck guiding the belt in the right place. Later that day replaced the alternator and it...
Depending on the year Suburan you get, I would stay away from the newer 5.3 with the active fuel management (AFM). A lot of sites mention there is considerable oil comsuption due to blow by when the engine is in the 4 cylinder mode. This supposedly happens around 40K or so. I have 2 vehicles...
I have found that within 6-8 months wipers are shot no matter if you buy expensive ones or not. I usually buy the middle price ones $6.99-$7.99. Changed out 2 sets yesterday on the Silverado and Yukon.
I find that when I wash the truck, I use a hose filter that you would use with an RV and although I still get some water spots, they are a lot less than when I wash the truck without it.
I tow a 26' fifth wheel that weighs about 8500lbs. loaded to New Hampshire every year. I get 11mpg going up and 12mpg coming home. Empty I get 18mpg summer and around 16.5mpg in the winter. Sounds like something is up for his mileage to be that low while towing such a light load.
I do it for 2 reasons: 1. In case a part of service goes wrong, you have backup of when it was done. Its better to know if you go to the dealer and give him a hard time if you know for sure when the work was done or want a new part that has a lifetime warranty- such as an alternator.
2. If I...
I have a folder in my file cabinet for each vehicle I own. In the folder I have all the original paper work from new, service receipts, any parts I have bought.
I keep a very small pocket size note book for all work I preformed on the truck with date, miles and what service was done. At one...
Good to know, I been trying to decide whether it is worth it or not to put on the filter head. I noticed that the Cat filters had more rubber gasket than the last time I purchased them, looks like will seal better. I buy 2 a year and swap out the Cat 2X and the OEM once.
If I put the filter...
Just curious, why did you go with the Baldwin and not the Cat filter?
How tight does the new filter head stay? Does it come off when you change the filter? I saw it on Nicks web site and it looked like a good idea. Cat filters are inexpensive and I pass a Cat dealer on the way to work every day.
