Back from the brink...help me locate and build my next 6.5!

Unfortunately, no. I'm thinking the hold up is due to my request for block filler. That stuff has to cure for a little while, as you know. And I reckon that put me to the back of the que again for machine work. He was going to sleeve all eight cylinders. I need to go over there tomorrow to...

Very helpful info, Will! Thanks so much for the investment of your time and energy, not only in researching this issue, but in passing along what you discovered!

    6.5l high flow upper.

WTF?! That's just a half-assed way of doing things! And my daddy always told me; "Son, don't ever half-ass anything! Only full-ass one thing at a time!" Pssht...pretty mediocre, Will! 😄

Back from the brink...help me locate and build my next 6.5!

Ok everyone, finally back with an update! Had the mechanic who pulled my engine send the block, crank, and heads to the machine shop a couple weeks ago, and have been waiting to hear back. Got a call yesterday, and went to the shop to visit with the owner. Unfortunately there was a wee bit of...

Bolts in place of plastic rocker arm buttons.

I, too, have seriously considered the roller rockers for my build. In speaking with Chris from Twisted Steel, he recommended them. (Not to be a name-dropping smart-ass...but I highly respect his knowledge and experience!) However, I've now reconsidered, and am 90% sure the factory rockers...

    ARP main stud instructions

Just spoke, face to face, with the owner of the local engine builder/machine shop. He showed me my block, freshly bored and decked, and we discussed what else I wanted done. Part of the reason I was there was to drop off the main stud kit, along with the head stud kit. I brought up the...

Yea, I also felt it a wee bit unusual. But that's what came in the box. Maybe it's easier to follow along with the Quadstar version...the reason for swapping it?

    6.5l high flow upper.

Just to make sure my train of though is correct, if one chose to initially utilize the DS4 pump, one would order the intake with provisions for said pump. But, if at a later date one should convert over to a DB2 pump, provisions for the DS could simply be blocked off. Correct?

    Engine Installation Bolt Kit

In fact, I've talked with him about doing just that! After reading his posts on various subjects over the years, and picking his brain a little myself, I'm convinced he knows his stuff...and is meticulous, and passionate about getting it right. Initially we discussed him going over, and working...

    Engine Installation Bolt Kit

Local diesel shop..."local" being a relative term, being as I live in rural Arkansas. I asked around, and was recommended to them. But they mostly deal with big, over-the-road trucks. All I'm asking of them is to pull, and then reintall the engine. Still, I can't look over their shoulder...

    Engine Installation Bolt Kit

This is true. But in this case I'm only concerned with appearance and cosmetics. The engine itself will have all new fasteners, will be clean, freshly painted, and shiny. But all the accessories mounted to it are going to look like HELL! , I wonder, how much will oxidation affect torque spec...

    Engine Installation Bolt Kit

If I was replacing this engine in my own shop, I would probably just take each individual bolt over to the wire wheel to clean it up then paint. That, or dip in phospho-coat. But I have someone doing it for me, and I'm quite sure they are just going to slap the old rusty bolts back in the...
